community well. since it was opened
on Wednesday, November 27th, 1895.
Now : history repeats. itself. Our
present school hoard realized the
need, and. have laboured • long and .
faithfuily, planning, and worlOing •
for; a ,new school. Wednesday they ,
will see their plans about to he •
realized.
The building .now in use was built
after the previous school was
destroyed by fire on Monday, March
25th, 1395. Files of the Brussels
Post report that ,on the following' ,
month, AXE 19th, 1295, architect's
plans were aPproved;• tenders for ,
huilding were advertised for on ,
May 1,7th. June 7th of that year it
was moved that school debentnre be ,
$9,000 for erecting the school. On
June 14th after reducing the plans,:
and modification, the tender of H.
G. -Wilson was accepted at $8,066
School 'teacher's salaries -in those
days were $250 to $300 per year.
