councillor If there was an election.

(reviewed the hydra financial state-
ment, said receipts for the past
ten months totaled 82(6,000, expend-
itures •for the same period were
$212,00e; there will be new 'street
lights added, ..also new system of
wiring for better lighting; the form-
ing of a Public Utilities CommisS•
ion will combine the hydro com-
mission, Waterworks Committee, and
SeWage.
Gordon 'Stephenson, chairman of
the Brussels Public School Board
, thanked his nominators• and gave
an excellent report on school fin-
ances.
R, W. Kennedy, School Board mem-
ber, spoke of the urgent need of a
new school here and said that the
council supported the new telephone
exchange, had mentioned new street
lighting, renovated municipal build-
ing, waterworks pump etc., but no
mention had been made of a new
school and that they Could not ex-
pect indastry to locate here with
run down educational facilities.
J. H. Stretton accepted the school
board nomination and said the old
school is a fire hazard; we can't ex-
pect industry to locate here unless
there is an ap-to-dalte Jsichool, that
is one of the first things < they en-
quire about.
Rev. L. Drown, School Board Mem-
ber, said he enjoys the work; edeu-
caitional needs must be faced by
everyone people iseem inclined to
want a kindergarten here in the
very near future; the council and
SchoOl Board will have to get to-
gether on the necessity of building
a new school; Wingham and tis.

stated that the Wingheln High School

hard to secure a 'secondary School

The 16th and 8th, group met at
the home of Mrs, Andy Turnbull
for the Nov, meeting,
The meeting opened with the
Call to *orship 'followed by prayer
Mrs. IT. Bolger took charge of the
'devotional part., Scripture reading
Deuteronomy 7th chapter, verses
6 to 12, was taken by Mrs. H.
Bolger. Roll call and minutes were
read and approved. The topic was
very ably given by Mrs. Martin
Business was discussed. A hymn
was sung and the meeting closed
with all repeating tthe Lords
Prayer.
A delicious lunch was served
by the lunch committee assisted bY
