Police Expect
Busy Weekmend
On the long week-end last August, 28 people lost their
lives on Ontario roads. Hundreds of others were injured
in automobile accidents.
Once again, this coning week-end will 'likely be the
busiest of the year, both for the highways—and the
hospitals.
Your Ontario Provincial Police force will take no holiday,
They, and countless municipal policemen will be working
full-time to guard our streets and highways against a
repetition of last year's terrible experience.
If you travel this week-end, remember that 1,800 OPP
officers will be watching you drive. Make it a holiday to
remember for them, as well as for yourself.

On Friday, July 25, the farmers in
42 counftlies went' to the polls to en-
;dorse the Co-operatieve Marketing
Plan for hogs. A 66% per cent
majority was nee, ded, and the vote
had an approximate 68% majority.

,supOrted the plan while Oxford,

ity.
:Huron voters were 'only 59,7% in
favour. Votes, in most cases were

counties in southern Ontario. It has
been In operation in 24 counties-
sinco last September.

!several years of dispute and tome
'court actions, during which various

ing have come under discussion -and
trial. The vote was ordered threw
months' ago by Agricullttire Minister
Goodfellow.
