HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Brussels Post, 1956-02-15, Page 5MEt.viLLE CHURofi, Rev Ilarold Colvin took his .ser. mon subject last Sunday, from St, Luke, chap. V verses 37 to 89,on the old and the new wine, Developing the thought of the old wine repre- renting the old religion of thejews and their leaders, and the new wine the now religion which -our Lord Jesus Christ taught, Many of the people of Jesus day did not like His religion. To love God with all'their -heart and soul and their neighbour as them-selves- was somethn,g many of them did not-want to do. They preferred their old religion. Some people are proud to say, I -am a Pres bterian, or -a United Churchman, an Anglican, a-Baptist, a Methodist, we should- rather say, I am as Christian and I belong to the Chureh, of 0brist" This is the new wine., We want a religion that makes us ;show nierey love our fellow man, and love God with all our heart and -soul, ,a ion that helps as to pray and read our Bible. When Jesus says the new Is better 'than the old, He is right. An old . religion is like old wine, fer. merited and sour, To live like a Christian, instead of merely saying I am It Christian. God is going to judge us by what we are and by what we do. He says to us, My son give me thine heart. The choir sang the anthem Hear our Prayer by Ryder, based on the hymn, Rock of Ages. The men of 'the choir rendered a male chorus, I want *my life to tell for Jesus. ETHEL TEE afilLISSELS pow I"a'0'ruaer 11.1,111 tt, rood, Ail tenders.
