ARTICLE RE STARVING MOOSE :
L. G. Swlltzer reoeivel a clouple
of ellippings from the Anchorage,
Alaska, Daily News, which he
brought to the office of the Brussels
Fast.
They tell of the pitiful plight of
hundreds of starving moose in the
Matanuska Valley. This huge army
of half !starved creatures is foraging
for food along the Glen highway, on
the outskirts 'of Anchorage and Pal-
mer. They have even invaded the
main streets of Palmer and are camp;
ing out around the houses, The
hungerenaddenel animals have been ;
knocking down farm fences foraging
for food.
The plight of the moose is consider'-' I
ed desperate: It Is reported that two !
scientists are working full time to
to determine what to do in tanned- 1
ion with the moose problem.
The aid Of various organzatiors has
been enlisted in a drive to bring food
to the stranded animals driven from
their usual. Winter pasturage by
heavy snow in the Mountains.
There have been seeteraIreporta of I
people being chargel but a represent-
ative -at the Fish and Wildlife Service:
pointed out that in most incidents
the people were at 'teen as they had
been ,disturbing the animals in seine
way.
