"Peace" was the topic
given by Mrs. James Alcorn
when she took the Worship
meditation at the November
meeting of Unit 2 Gorrie
United Church Women on
November 9 at the home of
Mrs, Alex Taylor.
The speaker cited incidents
- the effect of the noise of war,
its stress on the citizens and
the feelings of blessed relief
of "Peace" after six years of
war in England-the rejoicing
on the streets and at Bucking-
ham Palace. She quoted that
"We go to war to protect our
freedoms" and "Faith de-
stroys stress". Mrs. Alcorn
read several timely poems
Although the crowd was
small, a good time was had by
all attending the euchre party
last Monday evening. Four
tables were played with the
following winners. High man-
Ross Stephenson, High lady-
Mildred Gill; Low lady- Verna
Crawford; Low man- Joan
Smith, playing as a man;
birthday prize- Mrs. Hoegy;
anniversary- Helen and Stan
Alexander; Lucky cup- Cliff
Hoegy.
