A joint meeting with the Ladies Auxiliary was held Monday, October 19 in the auditorium of the Legion with a good turnout. In the Ladies Auxiliary news,' initiation was held for Bonnie Brewer. The ladies once again came through by paying for the sewer hook- up. On November 4 at 2 p.m. they are going to the Cal- lander Nursing Home to have a party for patients who have a birthday in November. It was decided to donate $100 to the Buriary Fund. The church service for November 11 is to be held at Duff's Church in Walton. With the transfer of Rev. Le Drew to another town, Rev. Charles Swan is now the Legion's Padre. In Novem- ber the Cadets will be out in full swin canvassing for the Poppy Fund. If any members are planning to attend the banquet, tickets are on sale at the legion and must be obtained by November 6th. In February 1982 Brussels Legion will host. the District Euchre. A specific date has not been set as yet. The Santa Claus parade is to be held December 5. Stu Parker and Jim Gar- niss from St. John's Am- bulance attended the meet- ing and inquired if the hall was available for first aid and CPR courses. They hoped to start Wednesday, October 28. Anyone wishing to take Mrs. Margaret Spence is a patient in Wingham hospital. Mr. and Mrs. John' Arm- strong, R.R. 1, Ethel, cele- brated their 30th wedding anniversary October 27. In honour of this special occas- ion, the family enjoyed an anniversary dinner at Wool- ner's Lodge, R.R. 1, St. Jacobs on Sunday, October 25. Guests included John and Isabel Armstrong, Gary Armstrong,. Don and Joan Armstrong, Murray and these courses. is welcome to attend.. The 50th Anniversary is all over .now and thatilcs to all those who attended and made it such a. success, COMING EVENTS Don't forget the turkey bingo's coming up Nov. 27, Dec. 4, 11 and 18th. Bruce and Arlene Knox of Scarboro, members of the Iondale choir in Scarboro, were visitors last' week with Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Brothers. Mrs. Adeline Smith has been visiting this week with relatives in Toronto. Gladys Wilson of Strat- ford spent the weekend with her cousin Ida Wilson. Thanksgiving was the theme of the meeting, and was introduced by a poem on Thankfulness for Blessings, by Isabel Adams. Kate Wilson offered pray- er and then a meditation asked "Why Thanksgiv- ing?" As Isabel developed the theme, we received the answer. It is we who profit from giving thanks. God is not like an insecure person who continually requires praise to stay happy. Janet McCutcheon's topic, "Will You Leave A Legacy?" left us feeling that there is something more important to leave our children than mon- ey. We can help them to develop good habits of Work, Play, Love and Worship
