Hallowe'en! Hallow's Eve, the time for
trick or treat callers to come knocking on your
door. It is also when would-be-artists get
busy decorating main street windows. So, be
prepared for visiting ghosts, goblins and
assorted weird characters looking for the
traditional goodies.•Those business folk with
store' front windows had better have the
necessary tools ready to clear the usual crude
sprawls that will decorate them.
The rain, snow and high winds we have had
swept the glory of the autumn leaves off the.
trees. There has not even been much chance
of strolling through the fallen leaves to enjoy
the rustle and fragrance of the colourful
carpet beneath our feet for it was swiftly
made sodden with the rain and snow.
The recent Arthritic Campaign held in this
community was a successful one. $855.00 was
received on the canvass. The Brussels
Arthritic Society is undoubtably grateful for
the response to their appeal and to the
canvassers who made it possible. The
prodeeds go into the, fight against a
widespread, crippling disease.

Speaking of Hallowe'en a reminder to
parents might be in order. See that your
young fry on their trick or treat rounds wear
costumes that make them clearly visible to
motorists. Caution them to take care crossing
streets. Use make-up on faces, not masks
which can interfere with their vision. Let
them have their Hallowe'en fun but warn ,
them not to take risks in their excitement.
