Obituaries Cranbrook ladies see. slides,
WILLIAM GEORGE
HARMON
William George Harmon of
R.R. 5, BrtfSsels died at his
residence on. Friday, October
9.
He was born in Toronto,
the son of the late George
Harmon and Amy Parks. He
was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Irene Warwick, two
daughters, Mary (Mrs. Clif-
ford Lamb) of Mississauga,
Joyce of R.R. 5, Brussels and
two grandchildren Juanita
and Bradley Lamb. Also
surviving are one brother
Gordon of Toronto and two
sisters, Mrs. Margaret Nes-
bitt of Oshawa and Mrs.
Harry (Mabel) Woods of
Toronto. He was predeceased
by one brother John.
The body was at the Brus-
-sels chapel of the M.L.Watts
Funeral Home until Sunday,
October 11 wwhere funeral
services were held at 2 p.m.
with Rev. Terry Trites of
Knox Presbyterian Church,
Bluevale officiating. Burial
followed in .Brussels Cemet-
ery.
Pallbearers were Bob Fras-
er, Ton and Brian Warwick,
Ed Schwartzentruber, Steve
Harmon and Frank Garniss.
Flowerbearers were Terry
and Larry Harmon.
MRS. F.G. MISHAW
Passed away in Burlington
on Monday, Oct. 5th in her
83rd year, Mrs.IFred Mishaw
the former Laura Turvey.
She leaves to mourn 1
daughter, Lois Hanley of
Burlington 4 grandchildren
and 2 great grandchildren
also a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Mayme Turvey of Huronview
Clinton A private service
was held in. Burlington on
Friday morning cremation to
follow. Interment in Mount
peasant cemetery in Poron-
to.
Chicklets
try cooking
The second meeting of the
Brussels II Chicklets was held
on September 28.
We started off the meeting
with Peggy McLellan and the
group saying the 4-H pledge.
The girls started the meeting
with the home activities.
After that, some of the girls
started making Niagara Nice
'n' Spicy chicken, chicken
stock and rendered lard
After the
work was done, we adopted
the new name of the Brussels
II Chicklets.
Getting hungry by now, it
was time to eat what some of
the girls made and boy was
that Niagara Nice 'n' Spicy
good.

Several members of the
W.M.S attended the meeting
in Melville. Church on Sunday
evening when a commentary
and pictures of Germany
were shown by Mrs. Thorn-
ton.
The 30th Huron County
Women's Institute Rally was
held in Belgrave on Oct. 5
The Wingham and District
Assoc. for the Mentally Re-.
tarded held their banquet and
dance Sept. 26 at the Brussels
Community Centre with ap-
proximately 450 people at-
tending to finalize their 1980-
81 Lottery Draw.
The winners of the final
draw were Margaret King of
Wingham who won the large
trip draw and Linda Splan
won the consolation prize.
The group would like to
thank all those who purchas-
ed tickets last year and to
congratulate all those who
won throughout the lottery.
They are now selling tic-
kets for the 1981-82 Lottery
Draw which are now on sale
and available from associa-
tion members. These tickets

the Cranbrook W.I. at this
meeting.
Mrs.. Ross Speiran and
daughter of Saginaw visited
relatives in the area recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bentley
and Dean spent the holiday
weekend in the Picton area.
Mr. and Mrs. John Saxon,
Laura and. Eddie visited on
the weekend at Mount Al-
bert.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton
attended the graduation at
Aylmer OPP College on. Fri-
day, Oct. 9 when their grand-
son OPP Steven Starr gradua-
ted. He has been at Wallace-
burg and now goes to Geral-
ton.
Jennifer Vanass, young
daughter, of John and Nancy
Vanass is a patient in War
Memorial Children's Hospit-
al, London where she under-
went surgery on Friday.
The W.M.S. are having the
October meeting in the
'church on Wed. evening, Oct.
14 at 8:15 McDaniel Phillips,
Wingham will be guest
speaker and ladies of the
community are invited.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunn
visited on Thanksgiving at
Lions Head with the Muchan
family from London.
Mr. and Mrs. Russ Play-
ford and girls and Gordon
Mitchell and boys Thorold
spent Thanksgiving holiday
with. Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Mitchell.

Cancer Society over goal
Wins MR draw
Ross McDaniel of Gode-
rich was installed as the
1981-82 president of the
Huron County Unit of the
Canadian Cancer Society at
the Unit's annual meeting
Tuesday evening, October 6.
Mr. McDaniel also accept-
ed a campaign award on
behalf of the Unit for surpas-
sing its fund-raising object-
ive of $60000 by more than
$12,000.
"The support of the citi-
zens of Huron County to our
cause has been very gratify-
ing to all of us involved in
the campaign. We have ex-
ceeded $1.25 per capita
which is a very proud
accomplishment," Mr. Mc-
Daniel reported as Unit
campaign chairman.
A break-down of the five
Branches of the Huron
County Unit shows that
Clinton raised $12,537; Ex-
eter $20,857; Goderich
$17,757; Seaforth $5,591;
and Wingham $15,798.
Daffodil sales in all the
Branches were very success-
ful with over $7,000 realized
and bike rides for cancer,
which were new events for
three of the Branches,
brought in $11,000.
Written reports from the
five Branches along with the
Unit publicity, education and
patient services reports were
adopted at the annual meet-
ing.
In his publicity report,
chairman Howard Aitken
noted that Terry Fox had
aroused more public support
this year than was ever
dreamed possible,
The education report by
chairman Margaret Mann
outlined the 'Smoking With
drawal Clinic' held in Clinton
as well as the various films
shown, pamphlets distribut-
ed and presentations made to
various groups throughout
the year.
Patient services chairman
Margaret Allan reported
there were 77 patients re-
ceiving assistance from the
Unit in the past year includ-
ing transportation to clinics,
drugs, housekeeping and
nursing services, food sup-
plements, ostomy supplies,
dressings and mastectomy
visits.
The slate of officers for the
Huron County Unit for 1981-
82, besides Ross McDaniel
