Repre- sentative of the professional Development Committee at- tended the Fall Conference of Huron I held in the. Exeter Public School with approxi- mately 175 in attendance. These included delegates, visitors, F.W.T.A.O. Execut- ive Staff and Huron County Representatives. Teachers were present from Bruce County in the north tc. Windsor in the south. Several reports were given The market at Brussels Stockyards traded on a dull demand with a lightly supply a choice cattle on offer. Pigs traded actively at steady prices. There were 747 cattle and 1454 pigs on offer. Choice Steers - 76.00 to 79.00. Good Steers - 73.00 to 76.00. Four steers consigned by Ross Durnin of Lucknow averaging 1170 lbs. sold for 79.00 with his lot of 11 steers averaging 1153 lbs. selling for 78.00. Two steers consigned by Ralph Dixon of StratfOrd averaging 1255 lbs. sold for 78.85 with his lot of 5 steers averaging 1282 lbs. selling for 77.80. Eleven steer consigned by Vernon Hodgins of Kincard- ine averaging 1084 lbs. sold for 77.35. Three steers consigned by Harvey Murray of R.R. 1, Chepstow averaging 1186 by different committees. Fol- bowing this, the group was divided into seven workshops under the direction of Rosina Craven, Jill Soos, Connie Sargent, Marilyn Dickson, Dorothy Nott, Carole Poss, Pat Savage and Judy Whyte. The one that I attended was by Judy Whyte with the topic. Problems! Problems! Problems! This dealt with all areas of school affairs. The highlight of the morn- ing was when Mrs. Mary Howarth, Executive Assis- tant of F.W.T.A.O. from lbs. sold for 77.35. Choice Heifers - 74.00 to 78.00 with sales to 79.10. Good Heifers - 71.00 to 74.00. Two heifers consigned by . Wayne Garner of Embro averaging 1030 lbs. sold for 79.10 with his 76 exotic heifers averaging 960 lbs. selling for an overall price of 75.75. Three heifers consigned by Ian Wilbee of Walton averag- ing 1020 lbs. sold for 75.75 with his lot of 14 heifers averaging 1036 lbs. selling for 74.40. Choice Cows - 48.00 to 51.00. Good Cows - 45.00 to 48.00. Canners & Cutters - 42.00 to 45.00. 30 to 40-1b. pigs traded to a high of 34.75. 40 to 50-lb. pigs to a high of 45.50. 50 to 60-1b. pigs to a high of 54.25. 60 to 70-lb. pigs to a high of 64.25. 70 to 80-1b. pigs to a high of 69.00. Toronto spoke and explained "Bill 82 and You" which has just recently been passed in Parliament. North Huron Teachers and interested parents and friends have a treat in store on Friday, October 30 (the next P.D. Day) as Mrs, Howarth will be at the Brussels Public School at 10:45 a.m. to speak on "The Gifted Child A Forgotten Pupil." Mrs. Teresa Hol- land, nee McWhirter, an employee at the Carnegie of Brussels P.S. • will also be present at 9:00 a.m. Her topic will be "Improving Public Relations Between Home and the School." A good attendance is hcped for. Following Mrs. Howarth's address on Bill 82 Mrs. Rowe catered to a beef dinner int the Exeter High School. Greetings were given by head table guests. These included Mr. R.J. McCall, area superintendent of the Huron County Bd. of Educat- ion, Board Chairman, Donald McDonald; Bruce Shaw, Ma- Black, assistant principal of yor of Exeter and principal of Exeter Public School; Mrs. Seaforth High School; Mr. L. Lillian Thompson director of Laotion wedding held in Brussels Brussels Mennonite Fellowship was the scene of the wedding service of Malythong Souvanasane and Sathiane- pong Phioukham on Tuesday evening, September 22. The bride, a cousin of Mrs. Osoth Larprom of Brussels, formerly resided in Newmarket. The bride was given in marriage by her brother Vong Souvanasane of Newmarket. The maid-of-honour was Mrs. Osoth Larprom. The best man was Duvit Larprom and guests were ushered by Howard Martin. The double ring ceremony was officiated by Pastor Doug Zehr. Soloist Mrs. Ann Hemingway of Brussels assisted by pianist Mrs. Nancy Greenwood of Teeswater sang "A Wedding Prayer." Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church. A buffet style meal of both Laotian and Canadian dishes was served amidst pink candles by Mrs. Linda Garland of Morris Typ. and Mrs. Alice Martin of Brussels. About 60 people attended. On the following day, the couple flew from Toronto to Edmonton. From there, they travelled to Red Deer, Alberta where the groom is employed by the Dutch Maid Bakery. Huron 1, from Bruce County and Mrs. Shirley Watson, F.W,T.A.O., Toronto Office. Mrs. Jean Turner of Ex- eter Public School and Pre- sident of Huron County F.W.T.A.O. then thanked everyone who had partic- ipated in making the day so informative and interesting. Mrs. Margaret Whitmore of the Grey Township Central School provided the day's entertainment by contribut- ing three beautiful solos. 4-Hers visit egg grading station BY CHARLENIE STEPHENSON The 4th meeting of the Brussels I, Kentucky Fried Egg Shells was held at Jackie and Karen McCutcheon's on Wednesday. Members made a souffle and salad dressing. It was sampled by all. The group would like to thank Mr. Stephenson for our visit to the egg-grading station on Sat. October 3rd.
