Being very fond of fish I have, by his kindness, enjoyed several meals with my main dish being freshly caught fish dripping with butter and lemon um-urn-delicious. Needless to say it has been appreciated. * * * * ** Surveys have revealed that the nutrition of teenagers is deplorable .. Their diet and food selection is much worse than any other age group. Many teenagers dash off to school; and after school activites, without adequate food. Then they eat junk food such as potato chips, candy bars and other sweets and soft drinks. It was concluded that girls' eating habits are worse than boys for they skip meals to keep a slender figure. Adolescents need good nutrition for their bodies are still developing. What they need is liver, dark green vegetables, whole milk, cheese, red meat, legumes, whole grain, bread and cereals, and fruit. Parents, teachers, governments and the teenagers Brussels resident Jack McCutcheon told council on Monday night he had no alternative but to take action against the municipality after they refused to pay for the connection of his sewer. Mr. McCutcheon had originally had the .,sewer connected before the village's permission date for hook-up. The village disconnected the sewer as it was before their permission date. "How many tax dollars do you think should be made for repair or to save face? To save face you're going to have to let it go to court. I do believe the duty of the council is to act in the best interest of the ratepayers," Mr. McCutcheon, said. Reeve Cal Krauter said, "We were duly elected as a council. We're working for the benefit of the people of the village. If the people wish to judge us, that is their perogatiVe." Councillor Stu Parker had some concerns about the fire protection agreement with Morris and Grey in regard to whether it was the Brussels fire department's responsibility to hold the fire until the proper fire themselves are all responsible for good nutritional habits if they are to have healthy bodies. « * * * * * Vitamins are recognized as a healthful addition to food if we are in need of certain ones. But, they should be taken with discretion, not gulped downlike candy. Some folks could almost be called vitamin addicts. Vitamin A is taken to ward off colds but it should be treated with respect. * * • * * * The Reagan administration is upset and is screaming "risk of crisis" because Canada has dared to defy them and not back away from Canadian nationalist energy and economic policies. It must be a shock to the U.S. to• find that their northern neighbour, that has for so long meekly gone along with what the U.S. wanted, has suddenly developed a backbone. The Federal Govern- ment declares they intend to stand firm this time and do what it considers best for Canadians and not what the U.S. demands. They have been threatening retalation but that could work both ways. Canada has resources that the U.S. desperately need. President Reagan has also been taking a harsh line with the Soviets. He is certainly no "dove". The Russian bear has been growling right back. It is to be hoped that all these problems can be worked out with no serious confrontations. Our world is troubled enough without the threat of that. department got to the scene. He didn't think the wording of the agreement made that clear but Reeve Cal Krauter told him that was the way it had been working for 15 years. It was later decided to get together, with the other municipalities to discuss the fire protection agreements. He also thought the fire chief and deputy fire chief should be taking some courses at fire college so that they could learn modern techniques and teach them to the other men. Reeve Cal Krauter told him to leave it till the firemen bring the , matter up to council themselves. Council gave permission to J. M. McDonald Lumber Ltd. to build. a fence on Beech Street between Turnberry and Ross streets and to leave a 44 foot roadway to Ross street until such time as a 66 foot roadway is required. • Hallowe'en policing arrangements were discussed and it was decided to give Dave Hastings permission to hire any help required and for him to notify the fire department. Council decided to make a donation of $275 toward the Santa Claus parade and barricade Thomas street from Turnberry Street and Elizabeth. Street for the Santa Claus parade on December 5. Council telephoned Grey Township council to tell them Brussels council supported them in that they were concerned about the digging of an earthen manure pit. Happy Birthday Grey !
