LEWIS STONEHOUSE 887-9847 Belgrave Kinsman met September 16 at the Arena with nevgy elected President Neil Edgar in charge. Plans were made to finish landscaping the new ball diamond this Fall. Allan Bridge informed the Club that there were a few tickets left for the October elimination draw. Arrangements were made for the Annual New Years Eve Dance which will be held at the Armouries in Wing- ham. The Club is looking forward to a good year under the new executive. The first meeting of the Belgrave I 4-H Club opened with the 4-H Pledge. The leaders Mrs. Ross Higgins and Miss Muriel Taylor dis- cussed the project require- ments for the Club classifica- tion and grades of chicken. Mrs. Higgins demonstrated how to cut up a whole chicken. the members also practised cutting up and deboning a chicken. The second meeting was held on September 17 with the election of officers taking place as follows: President - DoneIda Lamont, Secretary - Nancy Moore, Vice-president - Meribeth Scott, Press Re- porter - Muriel Taylor. The leaders discussed how to make chicken.. stock, the principles of cooking chicken and calculating the amount of chick .en needed for a recipe. The members helped to rend- er chicken fat and make Niagara Nice-N-Spicy Chic- ken. PERSONALS Miss Sharon Paton of Pais- ley, Scotland returned home recently after spending the summer months with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Procter. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Jamie- son visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Randy White and girls of Kitchener. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ander- son visited with Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Hayter of Varna on Sunday and attended the Varna United Church An- niversary service where Mr. George Cowan of Dungannon was guest speaker. Rev, Allan Johnston of Richard Memorial United Church London will be the guest speaker when members of Knox United Church, Bel- grave hold their Anniversary service on Sunday September 27 at 11:15 a.m. Special music will be provided by the choir under the leadership of Mrs. Correspondent MRS. Biernes of Molesworth to the Maitland Presbyterial Board nieeding at South Kinloss Presbyterian Church on Sept. 14. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Mun- dell attended the Belmore Presbyterian Anniversary service on Sept. 13. Mr. and Mrs. Cliiford Pyke attended the wedding of their' grandson Richard Hall and Kathryn Maguire in Scotland United Church on Sept. 5th and the reception in Burford Arena. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hall of Burford and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Maguire of Kelvin. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Pyke, Bradley George Procter. A warm welcome is extend- ed to everyone. Harold Keating spent last weekend with his sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Snell of London and attended the Western Fair on Saturday. Miss Ruth Martin of Bridgeport, Conn. is spend- ing this week with her cousins Mr. and Mrs. George Procter and Michele; and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Pyke of Wroxter were also guests at the wedding and reception. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sim- mons, Joanne and Carol of Guelph spent the weekend with Mrs. Jos. Simmons. Mrs. Anna Davis of Hawk Lake, Manitoba and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dixon of Thun- der Bay visited at the home of Miss Margaret Dane and other relative s on Sept. 10. Mrs. Eva McCully of St. Thomas is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Melville Dennis and other cousins in the area. Mrs. Jas. Walker of Stony Plain, Alberta returned home from attending the 125th Howick Anniversary and visited his mother Mrs. Lorne Walker and other relatives for two weeks. Mrs. Wayne Stevens of Bramalee visited her mother Mr. A.L. Stephens Sept. 14. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Leppington of Palmerston called at the same home Sunday. KNOX W.M.S. The September meeting of Knox Women's Missionary Society, Gorrie was held at the home of Mrs. Jas. Robin- son Sept. 9. Mrs. Gordon Moir, presid- ent opened the meeting with a quotation. While visiting at the home of Mrs. Robert Procter, Mr. and Mrs. Michael McNall of Victoria B.C. accompanied by Mrs. Procter, spent Thurs- decided to hold the Fall Thank-Offering Service Oct. 14, which will be a family night. A vote was taken for the award of a life membership. The members repeated the aim and purpose in unison. It was planned to hold a sale of Christmas cake, shortbread, Christmas cookies, and candy in the Church basement Nov. 28. The president received and dedicated the offering. Devotions were presented by Mrs. Bert Van Cook. A hymn and prayer closed the meeting. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Robinson. GORRIE U.C.W. Unit #2 After a summer recess, Unit 2 of the United Church Women of Gorrie has resum- ed regular meetings, with the September meeting at the home of Mrs. John McCutch- eon. Eleven members an- swered the roll call. Mrs. G.A. Minogue and Mrs. John Strong were in charge of the worship. Mrs. Minogue opened the worship with meditation and Mrs. Strong chose the scripture. A hymn was sung, followed by a ,short prayer by Mrs. Strong. A reading was given by Mrs. Minogue and the wor- ship period closed with a Hymn and prayer. The president, Mrs. Alex Taylor conducted the busi- ness. Providing the coval music was Mabel Jack- lin, Ruth Orien, and Millie Walsh. The audience joined them in a Sing Along. Read- ings included poems called Friendship, Giving Lavishly, and What A Cab Driver Knows. Happy Birthday was sung to those who were celebrating and birthday cards distributed. Cupcakes and tea was served at the close. Mrs. A. Prouty led the singing of the hymns You May Have the Joy Bells, Lord Lay Some Soul Upon My Heart, at Bible Study on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Prouty sang the solo Springs of Living Water. The congre- gation sang the chorus. The message given by Mrs. Prouty was taken from John Ch. 4. Jesus Gives Living Water To the Samaritan Woman. Sympathy is expressed to the family of Jonathan Fish- er. A quiz was done to see how much was known about nutri- tional value and food safety of chicken. The group will try a recipe at home from a collection of recipes from the first meeting and to render chicken fat and try a recipe using it. The next meeting is at Kendra Baillie's home.
