Rev. W. J. C. Buchanan of
New Market, a former Gorrie
United Church minister
spoke to the congregation
Sunday on "The Path of
Life". He told us that, if you
go through life with a dream
in your mind, a voice in your
ear, a sword in your hand,
and a song in your heart,
these are what you need to
get from nowhere to some-
where.
Harold Robinson and Wes-
ley Ball favoured with two
duets, "Whisper a Prayer"
and "Life's Railway to
Heaven", accompanied by
Mrs. John Freeman on the
piano. The choir sang the
Anthem, "Precious Memor-
ies" with Mrs. Sheldon Mann
accompaning on the organ.
At the close of the service,
the congregation was invited
to the church hall to share in a
time of refreshment and
fellowship.
St. Stephen's Anglican
Church also had special ser-
vice on Sunday morning con-
ducted by Rev. George And-
erson of Grand Bend, a
former minister now retired,
Rev,, Anderson based his
sermon Il Cor. 3, and also
spoke on the history of
Howick. Township. Rev.
Harry Jennings of Wroxeter
assisted. Holy Communion
was observed.
The Howick Legion Drum-
head service was held at the
Community centre conducted
by Rev. Lockhart Royal of
Goderich and Padre George
Anderson of Grand Bend.
The Brussels Pipe Band was
in attendance.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hock-
ridge of Scarborough were
weekend guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Allan Hyndman.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Austin
and Peter of Tillsonburg
spent the weekend with Mrs.
Wm. Austin Sr. Mr. and Mrs.
Jas Austin and Derek of
Elmira visited Saturday at the

ship Anniversary celebrat-
ions were well attended. They
started Wednesday with a
Variety concert and the choo-
sing of the Queen and Prin-
cess. There were approxi-
mately 16 in each class.
Eleanore Gibson of Ford-
wich was chosen Queen while
the Princess was Linda Merk-
ley, R.R. 1, Wroxeter. The.

Carol Wheeler of R.R. 5,
Brussels has a new career -
teaching figure skating in
Labrador.
She will be staying in
Labrador City and will also
be teaching at the Wabush
figure skating club about two
miles away and the Sermont
figure skating club in Que-
bec.
Carol got the call for the
job from the president of
Labrador City Skating Club.
Although she has just finish-
ed studies to become an
executive secretary, Carol
thought she might as well try
the skating position while it

school Section.

representing Morris Town-
ship in the Miss Midwestern
Fair contest in Lucknow on
the 19th. She will be leaving
on September 21, however.
As a pro, Carol will be
teaching everyone from pre-
schoolers to juniors and-
seniors. "The clubs out there
are really competitive," she
said.

day week. job where Carol
could put in anywhere bet-
ween 45 and 50 hours.

The Parade's many entries

1600 people.
A capacity crowd attended
the dance on Saturday even-
ing' at the Centre.
