Grey students finish history project

It's been a long summer of
hard work for three Grey
township students who have
been collecting information
and pictures on township
history in commemoration of
Grey's 125th birthday this
year.
Friday was the last day for
students Karen Ellsmore,
Debbie Rathwell and David
Dunbar. One of the things
the students have put to-
gether that Grey Township

From the papers they also
got store advertisement,
manufacturer's advertise-
ments and even someone
that advertised used false
teeth for sale.
They went through the
municipal books and did a
complete list of all the coun-
cils. They looked at the
Tweedsmuir books, they in-

students were going to put
on the slide presentation
included early settlements
and some of the century
arms.
What the students have
been doing during this pro-
ject, according to supervisor
Marilyn Engel, is collecting a
lot of information including
researching every lot in Grey
from the Crown. deed to the
present owner. As the weeks
developed they collected a lot
of information to go with
those lots such as family
trees, buildings. They check-
ed the Brussels Post and
Huron Expositor for anything
terviewed descendants of
pioneers and did tapes of
some of those people.
The students also collected
"heaps of pictures" to go
with all the lots they've
researched and they also
collected pictures to go with
old `machinery, ditchers,
steam engines as well as
schools, churches, different
organizations, mission bands
and different athletic teams.
The students also went to
London to the D.B. Weldon
library for records that
weren't available in the
township such as some of the
assessment rolls and collec-
tors rolls. They also tried to
do a map of every town.
