Simp- son and Joan spent a week in Newfoundland wisiting her niece Nancy Craig. Mrs. Glenna Stephens, is, home from Kitchener after attending the wedding of her grandson, Jim, to Susan Himerich, daughter of Dr, and. Mrs. Lorne Himerich. The young couple will reside in Kitchener where both are chartered accountants. The fam :ily of Mrs. Glenna Stephens, Mrs. Dot Higgins of Toronto, Dr. and Mrs. Regis Pelloux of Banton, Dr. and Mrs. Russell. Stephens of Kitchener, holidayed togeth- er at the cottage at Red Bay. Miss Lillian Powell, Seaforth has returned home after visiting her cousin Mrs. Ida Evans. They enjoyed a five day tour North to Moos anee. Bob Kennedy of Ottawa has been a visitor with his grandmother, Mrs.. R. W. Kennedy. Lyle and Alice Brothers , had their daughters Darlene and Nancy visiting at their home this past weekend. Also visiting for the. week 'w as their grandson, Simon, and Darlene's in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Robb of Woodland Beach. Ray and Elaine Heming- way, Vancouver have been visiting his parents, Carl and Eleanor Hemingway, and family. ' Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hem- ingway attended the funeral of Mrs. -Wesley (Edna) Whytock in Teeswater on Sunday. ACCESS FOR DISABLED — A new ramp is being built in Brussels at the Post Office. It is to help Stewarts meet near Walton Obituaries MARJORIE ALLETHIA (LEM] SMITH Mrs Marjorie Allethia (Letta) Smith, formerly of Brussels, died at the Hillside Rest Home, R.R. 5, Stratford on Monday, August 3rd, at the age of 71 years. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Smith. Surviving are one daugh- ter, Mary (Mrs. Clifford Mar- row) of Stratford and son Stuart of Goderich. Also surviving are sisters Mary Bird of Goderich, Alice Clou- tier of Toronto, Margaret (Mrs. Sam F ear) of Belgrave and Florence Newbigging of Pontiac, Mich.; brothers Herb Hawkins of Brussels and Alf Nichohof Belgrave. The late Mrs. Smith rested at the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Home Where service was held at 3:30 p.m, on Wednesday, August 5th, conducted by the Rev. Dan Sargent of St. John's Anglican Church, Brussels. Pallbearers were: Tom Bernard, Adam Smith, Glen Smith, Tom Miller, J.E. MARJORIE MaeLEAN- Mrs. Marjorie MacLean, the former Marjorie Ryan, and widow of Malcolm (Mac) MacLean of Brussels died in Mapleton Manor Nursing Home, Listowel, on Wednes- Now that the postal strike is over, it is nice again to have our column appearing in all nine newspapers. Rev. Darrah conducted the Sunday morning service assisted by Miss Margaret McQueen at the organ. The choir sang the anthem Bring Them In For Jesus. The late Majorie MacLean rested at the Peebles Funeral Mabel Garrow, Andy Houston, Ernest Appleton enjoyed a van ride to Stratford. While one of the ladies had an appointment the others spent the time browsing through the mall. It was off to London on Tuesday for appointments and Ann. Devlin, Norman Dupee, Clarence Smith, Eber Lewis, Al Macey, Earl Durnin, Wray Cornish and Tom Schmidt accompanied the van. We were happy .this week to have Mr. Chelut showing his slides of a trip made to Yugoslavia. Mr. Chelut gave a very interesting and informative talk about the country and we would like to thank him again for spending that time with us. Mrs. Prouty led the singing at the Bible Study on Thursday afternoon, and Ethel Hill read a. poem ranee of the choir to Marie Le Drew, who is a faithful member, and will be missed very much. A delicous lunch was serv- ed by the hostess and choir members. A vote of thanks for having us in their home was given by Murray Hoover. On Saturday afternoon,. August 8, some 60 relatives of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stewart of Brus- sels gathered at the home of —Marie and Neil McGavin of Walton. The Royal Stewart Tartan was noticed in ties, shirts and as decoration for the name cards worn by all the guests. Visiting and reminiscing took place on the roomy deck of the newly-built addition to the home: Ball games, boat- ing and swimming in the pond provided entertainment for the younger members of the group. A smorgasbord supper was enjoyed, followed by a trailer- drawn hay-ride around the farm and to the bush which recalled to many of the adults ' the joys and excitement of maple syrup-making days. Later, all gathered in at the attractive family room and Hazel Matheson gave a brief history of the four genera- tions of the family as she recalled it. Douglas Stewart of Toronto described where the Stewart ancestors lived before they imigrated to North Easthope in Ontario. Relatives were • present from Aurora, Brantford, Biampton, Don Mills, Agin- court, Chicago.
