Baton twirling comes to Brussels
PULL, PULL, PULL — Though they pulled with all their might the people
from the north half of Morris Township still lost the tug-of-war to the
south half of Morris, twice in a row. The tug-of-war was part of Morris
Township's 125th celebrations last weekend. (Photo by Langlois)

Baton twirling and all as-
pects of majorette work will
be available for Brussels girls
this fall. This is the first time
this type of activity has been
offered in the area. In addi-
tion to baton lessons, a
majorette corps will be form-
ed if sufficient interest is
shown.
Instructor and Corps di-
rector will be 16 year old Julie
MacDonald of Brussels.
Julie trained under Pattie
Robertson, a former Cana-
dian Champion, in Wingham
and was a member of the
Canadette Majorette Corps.
During her years with the
Canadettes, Julie earned her
gold medal and many troph-
jes in competition. In 1976
she was captain of the Novice
Twirl Team of six girls, who
won the Canadian Champion-
ship. That same year Julie
placed third in Canadians in
solo competition.
Lessons will be held on
Saturday mornings, and will
give girls ages five to 12
something fun to be involved
in while their brothers are
playing houseleague hockey.
