This is the first time this type of activity has been offered in the area. In addi- tion to baton lessons, a majorette corps will be form- ed if sufficient interest is shown. Instructor and Corps di- rector will be 16 year old Julie MacDonald of Brussels. Julie trained under Pattie Robertson, a former Cana- dian Champion, in Wingham and was a member of the Canadette Majorette Corps. During her years with the Canadettes, Julie earned her gold medal and many troph- jes in competition. In 1976 she was captain of the Novice Twirl Team of six girls, who won the Canadian Champion- ship. That same year Julie placed third in Canadians in solo competition. Lessons will be held on Saturday mornings, and will give girls ages five to 12 something fun to be involved in while their brothers are playing houseleague hockey.
