Belgrave ACW hears about crafts

The July meeting of the
Belgrave A.C.W, was held at
the home of Mrs. Clarke
Johnston and was opened
with prayer by Mrs. Robert
Procter. The Lord's prayer
was said in unison and Mrs.
Mildred Yannan read the
scripture. The Roll Call, tak-
en from the fifth chapter of
the gospel according to St.
Matthew was answered by
seven members.
Mrs. Procter read a medit-
ation entitled "The Disabled
hearts," and an article about
crafts that challenge the
minds and bodies of the
disabled and elderly.
The minutes of the last
meeting were read by the
secretary, Mrs. Clare Van
Camp and the treasurer's
report was given by Mrs.
Alex Nethery.
A r)enny for
each letter in St. Mark's,
Auburn, was put in the
travelling apron. It was de-
cided to hold a Bazaar and
Bake Sale again this year
and the date was set for
November 14.

EVA MARGARET WALKER
Eva Walker died at Wing-
ham and District Hospital
Sunday, June 28 at the age of
82. Formerly of Belgrave,
Mrs. Walker was -living_ at
Copeland Lodge in Wing-
ham. She was born June 17,
1899-to the late Mr. and Mrs.
William J. Humphrey of St.
Helen's and attended Belfast
School. She was married to
George . Walker, Sept. 20,
1922 at her home in St.
Helen's. Mrs. Walker was
active in United Church
Women and the Women's
Institute, and was a member
of Wingham United Church.
Surviving her is her hus-
band, George, four sons,
Howard and Ernest of Wing-
ham, Wilfred of East Wa-
wanosh and Clarence of
Turnberry -Township, a bro-
ther, William _Humphrey of
Pinecrest, Lucknow and she
was predeceased by a sister,
Lila Humphrey. Twelve
grandchildren and six great-
grandchildren also survive
her. the funeral took place
June -30, 2 -p.m. at the
Currie-Walker Funeral
Home with Rev. John- -G.
Roberts, Belgrave, officiat-
ing. Interment was at Wing-
ham cemetery in Wingham.
Six grandsons, Glen, Donald,
Douglas, Allen, Michael and
Rick Walker, were pallbear-
ers- Five - granddaughters,
Joyce Vincent, Donna Pal-
mer, Bonnie, Cheryl and
Cathy Walker were flower
bearers.
JOESPH McGILL
Joseph McGill died July-4
at Wingham and District
Hospital at age 71 following a
short illness. He was .a
resident of Belgrave. Born in
Blyth March 17, 1910, he
attended Belgrave- Public
School and was a mechanic in
his early life. He married Eva
Dickson in 1942 in Blyth. He
owned and operated McGill
TV and Radio store in
Wingham for 33 years until
his retirement about six
years ago. Mr.. McGill was a
member of Wingham Lodge
No. 286. Surviving_him is his
wife Eva. Relatives from
Snelgrove and Bolton at-
tended the funeral held at
Currie-Walker funeral home
July 7 at 2 p.m. Rev. John G.
Roberts officiated. Interment
was at Brandon Cemetery in
Belgrave. Members .of the
lodge held a memorial ser-
vice Monday evening at the
funeral home.
