ALLAN MCCALL 887-6677 The Agriculture and Canadian Industries meeting of the Walton Women's Institute was held on Wednesday, evening, June 17 in the community hall. ,The guest speaker, N,orrnan „ Alexander of Lendesboto spoke on Conservation and Pollution fighting giving much detail in the problems of soil and water erosion also flooding. Mr. Alexander, was intro. duced by convener, Mrs. G, McCall and thanked by Mrs, H. Craig,and presented with a gift on behalf of the Institute. Business was chaired, by the President, Mr. K. Rock. Mrs. Wm, Humphries read minutes, and Correspendence. Several thank you letters were read from those who had attended the Anniyersary party last month. Roll Call - How I've tried to conserve energy in my home was answered, by 18 members. There was one guest present. A flag donated by Mrs. S. Mr. and Mrs. Torrance Dundas were greeters at Duff's United Church for the Family and Awards Sunday. Organist was Mrs. Ray Huether. Ushers were Ken McDonald, . Howard 'rHackwell and Emerson Nfitchell.Gary G9dkin led ,in the responsive.-reading, fol- lowed by Daryl Hoegy reading the first scripture lesson from Matthew 6:5-15 and Tim Fritz reading the second scripture lesson from Ephesians 2: 11-22,Rev. School ,Choir.. They were accompanied by Margery Huether at the pianp when they, sang "Show a little bit of Love and Kindness," "Ten Lepers" and "God gives his people strength" -under the direct- ion of Mrs. Mary Dounia, music teacher at Brussels School. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Norman Schade and Mr. and Mrs. Torrance Dundas returned home from a 4 day bus trip to Elgin House in the Muskoka district. They enjoyed a 30,000 Island Cruise of 75 miles, also a Nature Bus Tour through , tile, Muskoka Wendy Martin of Brussels. In the announcements, Rev. Swan reminded the' ,young folk they are still welcome to sign ,up for the Daily Vacation Bible, School starting July 6-10 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Presentation of awards were announced by .Pauline Bennett, secretary of the Sunday School. 28 received special awards for the past year 1980.81. Stewart Humphries , is a patient in , St. Joseph Hospital, London having surgery last Friday. Their daughter Wenda is in charge of Post Office duties.
