A pleasant time of visiting and socializ- ing. followed with refresh- ments served. The commit- tee arranging the event was P Nancy Vanass, Teuni. Smith and Nell De Reuter. The many pictures, etc. were enjoyed by the visitors. Plan picnic at senior citizens' building On Saturday afternoon, the Cranbrook W.I.hosted a 30th anniversary for the 4-H clubs. In charge of registra- tion was Mrs. Wilfred Strick- ler and Mrs. Jack Cox. The president, Mrs. Frank Work- man.moke words of welcome and was M.C. for the after- noon program. Cranbrook 2 club had an exhibit "Tools of the trade" with comments by Jody Miller and Carol Ann Connell. Cranbrook 1 had a demon- stration "Preparing the fabric for what's ahead" with Linda Morton commentating. The members staged a fash- ion show, each wearing the garment she had made in the club. Pictures, club books, awards and mementos of 4-H over the years were display- ed, with names of members in each. Nicely decorated cakes were on the tables with a large one at the front. These had been made and decorated by the W.I. mem- bers and others who took the cake decorating course re- cently. It was stated that advance honours had been attained by Janet Veitch and Arlene Strickler on complet- ing 18 clubs. The first leaders, Mrs. Allan McTaggart, Mrs. Jack Cox, and Mrs. Mac McIntosh cut the cake. There were nine members in the first club and three were present. Mrs. John Semple (Beryl McFar- lane) Mrs. John Doherty (Anne Steffler) Mrs. Bill Melville Ladies Aid met at the home of Mrs. Stephens with 12 present. Mrs. Ste- phens opened the meeting by all singing Blest be the tie that binds. The scripture from Isaiah 40 was read by Ethel Long and prayer by Adeline Smtih. The minutes were read by Ruby Steissithe treasurer's report by Berva Dennis and Ethel Long gave the sunshine report. The Roll Call was an- swered by spring verses and naming a flower that began with the first initial: of their name. Lulu Kerr and Mrs. Armstrong (Maxine Small- don). Draws were held for a tablecloth and one of the cakes. These were won by Darlene Ducharme and Merle McIntosh. Mrs. Allan McTaggart ex- pressed thanks to the. Cran- brook W.I. for hosting the McLeod read poems. Mrs. King invited the group to her place at Senior Citizen building for a picnic on July23 at 2:30 p.m. Mrs. Kerr and Mrs. King to look after the program. The next meeting is to be on Sept. 8. Elsie Evans gave a reading on "not going to church," and Ruby Steiss gave a reading from Party Line by Viola Phillips and Elsie had a card game. Lunch was BALER TWINE 10,000 ft. Sisal 300 lb.
