GEORGE BROWN 335-3424 The 79th Annual meeting of Huron East District Wo- ' men's Institute was held in Bluevale United Church with 94 ladies registered. This is the Year of the Disabled and the theme for the meeting was, "The need to be Needed." Mrs. Wm. Humphries of Walton, Dist- rict President presided. Mrs. Norman Coghlin of Atwood, F. W.1.0. Board Dir- ector, brought greetings and her report. Mri. Chas. Mathers, Blue- vale reported on the Offic- ers's Conderence. a training program for new leaders. Jane Muegge, Huron County Home Economist reported on the 4-H program and the Senior program available in the County. Guest speaker was Marjorie Murray of Tees- water, herself a disabled person for the past 53 years. A young school teacher, she was stricken with arthritis and confined to bbd for several years, Since the pain has left her body she is up and about. She brought along several of her hobbies which are painting, shellcraft, weaving etc. She was an avid garden- er until her failing eyesight, curtailed some of her activ- ity. She is an active W.I. member, a regular attendant at church and church meet- ings and serves as secretary- treasurer for some organizat- ions. She was an inspiration to all present. Mrs. Elmer Harding, R.R. 1, Gorrie succeeds Mrs. Humphries as president and the new secretary-treasurer is Mrs. James. Mahon of Ethel W.I. Branch. An invitation was extend- ed to bold the 1982 District Annual in Cranbrook. MRS. JOE WALKER 357-3555 Anniversary services will be held in the Bluevale Presbyterian Church on June 7 at 11 a.m. when Rev. Douglas McDonald will be the guest speaker. Mrs. Daryl Walker enter- tained about 20 relatives Sunday afternoon in honor of Kathy Walker, prior to her marriage to Ken Skinn in July. Several contests and readings were much enjoyed. Kathy received many lovely useful gifts for which she thanked everyone. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Dayle Moffat, Pam Fischer and Grace Elliott. INTEND FOR LAST WEEK Friday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nicholson were Mr. and Mrs. Art Ruttan, Corbetton. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Nich- olson and family spent the weekend at their cottage at Silver Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Henning were Sunday sup- per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lewis, Wingham. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brindley of Goderich visited with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Nicholson. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Coe, Barry and Clarence visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Henning, then Mrs. Henning and Mrs. Coe at- tended the shower for Kathy Walker.
