PROCEEDS from , the walkathon will be divided, equally among Minor Sports, Figure Skating and Doug McArter. 2. THE ROUTE consists of a total distance of 10 miles. Walkers will register at the B., M. & G arena then proceed south 11/4 miles to the 12th of Grey, east 3 3/4 miles to Cranbrook, north 11/4 miles to the 10th of Grey and west to Brussels where the walkathon will finish at the B. M. & G. Arena. 3. CHECK POINTS will be located at the start, 21/2 miles, Cranbrook, 7 1/2 miles and the finish. 4. PLEDGE SHEETS must be handed in to the officials before the' walk begins and picked up at the finish point before the walker leaves. Sheets may be picked up at Brusse15, Grey and Walton Schools,Lowes Barber Shop, Royal Bank or from the executives of the Minor Sports or Figure Skaters. 5. Mrs. Harold. Steffier were in Pasadena, Newfoundland visiting their son John and his family and also his brother Paul. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gill of Poplar Hill and. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bauer of South- ampton visited Mrs. Harold Bolger over the weekend. Julie and Lois McCall and Sarah Stephenson were in Nashville for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Pipe received word last week of the death of their brother-in- law, Mr. Leslie Braddick of Vancouver; his wife. was the former Esther Pollard, who predeceased him in 1968. She was the daughter of Ed Pollard of Callander Nursing Home. Simon is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith and Mr. and Mrs, . Lyle Brothers spent the holiday weekend with Mrs. Smith's sister Jean in Etobicoke. While there they attended a concert at Ryerson Theatre. "Faith, not fear'' was the underlying theme of the speech given by Rev. A. Kuyvenhoven at the spring membership meeting of the Wingham and District Inter- denominational Christian High School Society. 112 interested people heard him explain that the responsibil- ity for teaching the Christian way of life is a personal (family) one, but also a corporate (church and school) mandate. Originally, in United States and Canada, all schools were owned and Teams have now been arranged for the town league in the Brussels Men's Indus- trial Slo-Pitch and the Brus- sels Ladies Slo-Pitch teams. A town league for the Brussels Ladies Slo-Pitch is something new this year as the Brussels Bombers have disbanded. At a recent test day at the Silverthorne Skating School in Guelph, Karen Alexander passed the Rhumba which completed her five gold dances, thus giving Karen a Gold Medal in Ice Dancing. Karen also passed her senior bronze free skate, Once again, this summer, Karen will be skating under the- supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Wilf Pocock, Cam- bridge. controlled by churches, but over the last number of years there has been a growing separation between churches and school, and a trend toward government control of children's education. The W.D.I.C.H.S.S. is made up of parents who are interested in having their children taught from a per- spective which is in harmony with the Christian view of life at home. Plans are to form a Christian High School in the Wingham area in the near future. They had, placed first in five qualifying races in the Intermediate class in -Wing-- ham and Pembroke and will now represent Ontario in the Canadian Marathon Canoe Racing National Champion- hip, on August 2 in Saska- toon, Saskatchewan.
