On a bright crisp Easter
Sunday morning over 50
members and visitors of
Knox United Church, Bel-
grave gathered on the lawn
of Mrs. Janisa Coultes at
5:30 a.m. to celebrate the
rising of Christ on that first
Easter morning,
After singing "Welcome
Happy Morning", the mem-
bers of the Hi-C group
assisted by Howard Morton
portrayed the scripture taken
from Luke 24:13 13-32 in
which the disciples met Je-
sus on the road to Emmaus.
Following the hymn "He
Lives" Mrs. Ross Anderson
led in prayer. The meditation
"Emma- us, Walk of Won-
der" was given by Mrs. Bill
Coultes and followed by a
poem read by Mrs. Kenneth
Wheeler.
The hymn "Rejoice Your
Lord is King" concluded the
service and was followed by
the benediction. A poem "I
am the Light of the World",
by Helen Steiner Rice, read
by Mrs. Janisa Coultes.
A delicious breakfast was
enjoyed in the church follow-
ing the service.
The Afternoon Unit of the
United Church Women of
1 Knox United Church, Bel-
grave shared their Easter
meeting with the Copeland
Lodge seniors of Wingham.
Mrs. Cecil Coultes opened
the meeting with scripture.
Mrs. Walter Scott and
Mrs. William =Fenton were in
•charge of the worship serv-. ice.
In her meditation Mrs.
Scott reminded members
that the tragedy of Easter
was overcome when Jesus
was raised from the dead.
Easter demonstrates that
death is not the end. Easter
brings comfort and rejoicing.
Christianity is joyous and
Easter the most joyous of it
all.
The speaker, Rev. John
Roberts was introduced by
Mrs. Coultes. Mr. Roberts
chose scripture from Jere-
miah. "It is in our own
ordinary experiences of life
that we find faith," he said.
There has to be in our lives
some way to measure our
faith. For Christians the
standard is the whole Easter
event. We know there is
suffering in the world but at
the same time there is hope
and promise. "Behold the
King Cometh Unto Thee" is
the foundation of the.Chrtst-
ian hope. Mrs. Bolt thanked ;
Mr. Roberts.

so reacti a concensus of
opinion, In contrast, the
Church began with the solu-
tion.
In St. Paul's era the
tradition of the church was
already set. By being told of
the solution the question
arises, "The Easter weekend
questions". Who do you
think God is? The Cross and
the resurrection cannot be
separated. Easter is not an
isolated event, I Fear
not, the Cross proclaims, The
question again poses "Who
is God? Who is Man? What
is. Salvation?"
