The annual dinner meeting
of the Association 34 of the
Dairy Herd Improvement
program was held in the
Gorrie Vnited -Church hall on
Tuesday March .31st. There
were $2 members and guests
in attendance,
The meeting was chaired
by Kathy Pentland of Gorrie
who is the supervisor of
Association 34.
Certificates were present-
ed as follows: for the highest
producing Herd in the -Asso-
ciation Andy Schuitema of
Gorrie.. The herd showing the
greatest increase in pro-
duction - Finlay Peffer of
Clifford, For the most effee-
five calving interval - Dick
Agla of Fordwich,
The speaker for the occas-
ion was Court Carmichael of
.Medway Farms of London.
He spoke on embryo trans-
plants. This association was
formerly know as Association
25 and had been under the
supervision of Jack Ferguson
of Gorrie for 14 years. Jack
retired in August 1.980. In
appreciation for his' years of
service with the Dairy Herd_
Improvement Program • he
was presented with a waft
clock, which was suitably
inscribed. The presentations
was made. by. William Bross,
a prominent dairy farmer
Gorrie
from. Mildinay. He thanked
Jack for his years of service
and his dedication to his jab.
In his reply Jack thanked the
members for the gift and the
thought that prompted it. He
said he had enjoyed his work
and commented on the many
friendships that had develop-
ed over the years of his
association with the dairy
farmers in this area.

CAKE DECORATING GRADUATES — A
group of neighbours near Cranbrook decided to
get together and take a cake decorating course
recently and on Tuesday of last week they were
ready for the finished product. Posing with their

The Women's Missionary
Society of Knox Presbyterian
Church held their Spring
Thank-offering service on
Wednesday evening, April S.
Mrs. Glenn Underwood
gave the Call to Worship
with scripture containing the
Easter message. The Hymn,
"Blest morning Whose First
Dawning" was sung. Mrs.
Gordon Steinacker read the
Scripture taken from Luke
3;20-25 and 33-47, followed
by the singing of "The Day
of Resurrection". The offer-
- ing was received by Mrs.
Robert Mayburry and Mrs.
Harvey Adams and dedicat-
ed by Mrs. Underwood.
The solO was sung by Mrs.
Hugh Deighton accompanied
by Mrs. Glenn Underwood
on the organ.
Guests from Fordwich,
&Wore, Molesworth and
Gorrie Churches attended.
The guest speaker, Lavon-
ne Ballah of Wingham, in-
troduced by Mrs. Gordon
Moir gave her audience an
interesting and informative
insight into the lives of Judas
and Barabbas and the part
they played in events leading
up to the crucifixion. She
closed her address with the
Benediction - May Christ
who walks on wounded feet
walk with you to the end of
your road.
May the Christ who serv-
es with wounded hands teach
you to serve each other. May
Christ who loves with a
wounded heart be your love
forever. When you go out,
May you see Jesus in every-
one meet. And may everyone
you meet see the face of
Jesus in you. Mien.
Mrs. David Neilson thank-
ed the Speaker. A social time
followed the service.
Jeffrey Holmes and Bill
Graham of Fanshawe, Lon-
don spent the weekend at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Alex
Graham.

for Unit 2 of Gorrie U.C.W
on Wednesday, April 8. Mrs.
Delbert Clegg opened with
Prayer and a hymn was

Alex Taylor conducted the

surers and .quilt reports.
Members were reminded of

United Church Women met
in the church, with Mrs.
Robert Strong president an-
nouncing that. Mary Mac
Swartzentruber will be the
guest speaker for the Thank
offering service on Wednes-
day April- 22. Miss. Swart-
zentruber of Kitchener,
formerly of Brussels is a
font-let-teacher at the Howick
Central School and will speak
on her Mission work in Zaire.
Neighbouring church groups
will be invited to attend this
event,
Mrs. Robert Gibson read
the minutes and correspond-
ence.
The catering comntittee
reported that food planning
for the Garden Party on Attie
9 had been finalized,
be; of Kitchener and Brussels
formerly a teacher at Howick
Central who will tell ,of her
missionwork in Zaire on
April- 22 in the Gorrie United
Church and the Spring Bale
May 11 and 12 and -to be
packed on 13th. Roll call was
answered by an Easter
Thought by 11 members.
Mrs. Taylor closed with
prayer. Refreshments were
served by Mrs. Allan Harri-
son. Mrs. Robt. Hastie and
the hostess.
A number of residents
attended the Cantata, "The
Fourth Cross" presented
Sunday evening in the
Fordwich United Church.

Fred Victor Mission in. Tor-
onto. Mrs. Sheldon Mann
and her committee will be in
charge. Good clean used
clothing may be left at the
Church . on May 11 and 12
and the bale will be packed
on May 13.
