MAC ENGEL 887-6645 The April meeting of the W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs. Stuart McNair, Brussels. President, Mrs. Wilfred Strickler opened the meeting with words of welcome Mrs. M ac Engel was leader for the Easter service. ,Others taking part were Mrs. Gor- don Engel, Mrs. Clare Veitch, Mrs. John A. Perrie and Mrs. McNair. In the absence of Mrs. Leslie Knight, Mrs. McNair was pianist. Mrs. Strickler presided for the business when the minutes were read by Mrs. John Vanass. The Presbyterial visitor expects to be at the November meet- ing. Eight members an- swered the roll call with an Easter poem or reading. A report on the recent meeting in St. Andrews church, Stratford, was given by Mrs. Stuart Stevenson. The group will send a get well card to Miss • Lynn Longmuir who was in a car accident but fortunately was not seriously injured. Mrs. Veitch. will be hostess for May. A social half hour followed when Mrs. Verde and IVhrs. Stevenson assisted ' the hostess with hinch, PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Strickler have arrived home from an enjoyable month in Florida. Mrs. Stan. Bentley and Jack Conley are home from the University Hospital, Lon- don, following surgery. Misses Sandra Cameron, Barrie, Janet Veitch and Sharon Engel, London, were home for the weekend. The Foresters held their last euchre of the season on Friday evening with 18 ta- bles playing. Winners were: High score- Earl Mills, Becky Ruppel, low- Roxy Jacklin, Pauline Patterson, lone hands. Mrs. Chas. Keeso, lucky table- Verna Crawford, Wilma Rathwell, Welland Krauter, Bev Mitchell; lucky score cards- Cliff Hoegy, Linda Minielly, Mrs. Honeyford. The Foresters have rea- lized. approximately $700 for cancer research and extend their thanks for the support they received in this worth- while effort. A miscellaneous shower for Joan Hart was held in the' community centre on Thurs- day evening with a large attendance., Mrs. Stewart Steiss and Mrs. Jack Knight conducted contests and piano duets were contributed by Joanne Knight and Jeanne McDonald. Joan' and her mother, Mrs. Jim Hart and Mrs. Armstrong, mother of the groom-to-be were seated before an attractive arrange- ment of bells, streamers, etc. An address was read by Jean Prescott and gifts were presented by a group of young friends. Joan expressed her thanks to everyone and especially to those responsible for arrang- ing the shower. Onssels ILC,W. met in the church parlour April 1, President Karen Cardiff welcomed everyone. Kaye Stevenson and Alma, Watson were in charge of devotions,. Everyone joined ii singing the hymn "Jesus Christ. is Risen Today". A film "if I Should Die .Before Wake" was shown, followed by singing "The Lord's My Shepherd." Mrs. Cardiff conducted the business. Joan Bernard read the minutes of the last meeting and 13 answered the Roll Cal with an Easter verse, Lark McDonald read interesting current events prepared by .Betty Graber. Some ladies. volunteered to meet with a lady from Seaforth to discuss having a. "Buddy Phone System" for lonely and elderly folks in the area. A bake sale and tea was 1planued for May 23 at 2:3Q in. the Library. Ltioch, was 'served by Gertie .Kellingtoh and Sarah Stephenson,. The next meeting will be on May 6th in the Church Basement_ at 6;30 with all ladies of the church invited, as well as guests for a Pot Luck dinner in honour of "Mothers". A guest speaker will attend.
