Kathy Pentland was named pre- sident. The girls are making a skirt or vest. Achievement Day will be .held May 4 at 7 p.m. in the Howick Central School. SEW BUNNINES The Gorrie South 4-H Girls Club with Mrs. Jas. Gray leader and Mrs. Wm. Thornton assistant are leading the "Sew Bunnies" club. Club president is Suzanne Machan and Vice President is Karen Van Donkersgoed. The girls did extended facing and interfacing at the last meeting. Their exhibit for Achievement Day is to be "What a Waistbane, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Edgar of Listowel visited -.Sunday with Mrs. Glad Edgar. Birks Robertson . of Teeswater spent Sunday at the same home and also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Edgar. Mr. and Mrs. Cedril Moffat of Wingham visited Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Allan. Jamie and Mark of Kitchener spent the weekend at the home of Mrs. John Strong. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Mundell visited over the weekend with Rev. and Mrs. -Wm. A. GEORGE BROWN 335.3424 "Through Whose Ears Do We Hear? was the subject of Mrs. Hugh Deighton's topic at the March meeting of the Women's Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church, Gorrie, Reviewing the background' of the holocaust in Germany before World War U. she pointed out similiarities in the de- privations of welfare re- cipients and the poor in the United States to-day de- scribed by Rev. Richard W. Gillett of Pasadena, California. She asked the members to seek God's guidance in responding to Missions on our doorstep. President Mrs. Gordon Moir opened with selected verses from the Song of Solomon. The roll call was answered by eight members with information about St. Patrick and Irish poems. Lavonne Ballagh of Wingham will speak at the Easter Thankoffering on April 8 at 8 in the evening. An invitation was received from the Fordwich ladies to attend the Easter Cantata "The Fourth Cross" in Fordwich United Church on April, 12 at 8:15 p.m. CENTENNIAL PLANS The ladies discussed plans for a special service to be held to celebrate the centennial of the building of the present church. The meeting concluded wtih repeating the aim and purpose of the yVomen's Missionary Society:A player" by Mrs. Moir. A time of The Gorrie Senior Citizens, "Come Alive" enjoyed a smorgasbord dinner at noon in the town hall on March 10 with over 30 attending. Robert Gibson, president conducted the business. Mrs. Lloyd Jacques read the minutes and correspondence and Jean Sparling gave the treasurer's report. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Mundell showed pictures of a Finnigan of Dorchester spent the weekend with Mrs: Ken. Hastie. Mrs. Carl Douglas of Belmore, accompanied by Mrs. Cecil Grainger, visited Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robt, Grainger of Waterloo. Homer Barlow of Listowel visited Sunday with. Mrs. Vernon Barlow. Recent visitors at the same home were Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Barlow,Jerri Lynne, Joy and Kenneth and Wells Barlow of Markdale; Mrs. Myrtle Smith, Gordon Cook of Owen Sound; Mr, and Mrs. Chas, Kirk and Leslie of Sarnia. Mrs. Jos. Simmons spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Frei- burger, at Greenoch. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Graham spent Sunday with Mr. and ,MXSI Donald Graham of Kitchener. Also visiting at the same home was James Graham who had just arrived from a holiday in Hawaii. The Fifth Addition of the successful Tea and Bake Sale United Church held a on Saturday. Cruise on the Grand River, near Caledonia which members of the club had enjoyed. Then the Teeswater Farm Forum trip through Pennslyvania and New York where they toured the Corn- ing Glass Plant and Mennon- ite country with interesting commentary on places of interest. Games night will be on Monday, March 23 at 8:30 Note the change of date.
