Institute hostesses were Mrs. Lavern Godkin, Mrs. Graeme Craig, Mrs. Bill Humphries and Mrs. Ken Mcdonald. There will be another euchre next Tuesday same time, same place, everyone is welcome. INSTITUTE MEETING The Walton Women's Institute Family and Con- sumer Affairs meeting was Gorrie held February 25. Mrs. Harold Hudie pre- sided for the business. Mrs. Gerald Watson, convenor, introduced Nancy Exel, a chartered accountant from. Brussels. She gave many hints on your income tax reports. She also stressed to make sure you have a, will and have things well identi- fied. Mrs. Ray Huether thanked the speaker and presented her with a gift after she answered many questions from the floor. PENNY SALE Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Huether conducted a most interesting penny sale that caused much excitement be- fore the 4-H girls left. Twenty members answered the roll call, "A tip on beating the high cost of living". A letter was read from Ray McNichol who will facilities. Robert Harper carpenter and William Leckie electricians were the contractors. Mrs. Kenneth Underwood continues as librarian. PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Doig of Molesworth visited Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. George Brown. Mrs. Norman Mulloy and Kristie of Paris spent the ,w,eekend, at ,the same home, and accompanied Mr. Norman Mulloy home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grant of R.R. 4, Wingham spent Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Fred.Baldwin of Paris; Mr. and' Mrs. Beverley Brears, Brian and Paul of Palmerston R.R. 3, visited Sunday at the same home. The officers conference is to be held at Waterloo University, May 5, 6, 7. The district annual meeting will be held at Bluevale United Church on Tuesday, May 12. The nom- inating committee, Mrs. H. Traviss, Mrs. H. Hudie and Mrs. K. McDonald are to bring in the slate of officers for the following year. Taylor and Miss Mar, ,garet Dane visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Taylor and celebrated Heather's birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smailes of Hanover were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs." Eldred Cathers. Mr. and " Mrs. Mac Macatee of Toronto were visitors at the same home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Fitch of Belmore visited Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Haskins. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jenkins of R.R. 4, Wingham visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hogg. Janet and Ken Hogg of Wingham spent the weekend with their grand- parents. Brent Johnston who is attending Niagara College at Welland is spending the week holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. CHURCH NEWS Greeters on Sunday at Duff's United Church were Mrs. Dorothy Sholdice and Sandra. Organist for the month of March, Mrs. Marj- orie Humphries. Ushers for this month, Keith Wilbee, Bill Coutts and Jim McDonald. The children's story was on "Faith", and Rev. Charles A. Swan ser- mon was "Forward with God". Victoria Hospital on Thursday. Mr. Alcorn is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Alcorn of London. Mrs. Lloyd Jacques at- tended the Huron County Women's Institute Scholarship Committee meeting at the Board Room of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food in Clinton. SRS. GAMES NIGHT The Gorrie Senior Citizens games Night was held on Tuesday evening with over 45 attending. Among the euchre winners were Ivan Haskins, Mrs. Sam Johnston, Fordwich, Mrs. Wilbur Hogg, with Mrs. Clifford Cooke winning the special. The unified .board meeting was held in the church basement Sunday evening. Condolences wereoffered to Mrs. Viola Kirkby in the loss l of her neice, Mrs.. Donna Miller, last week. The men of the church are planning a pancake breakfast tat the church on Sunday, March 29th, from 8-9:30 a.m. Service to follow at 10 a.m. On April 14 young people ,will join the church with Profession of Faith. A large crowd of friends, neighbours and relatives attended the community shower on Friday evenng at Duff's United Church for Janice Houston. Mrs. Jan Van Vliet was mc. Kim Fritz gave a piano solo, Jeanne MeD maid, Pat- ricia Hackwell and Cathy McGavin contributed num- bers with their horns. Cheryl Fraser read a couple of humourous readings follow- ed by a piano solo by Joyanne Van Vliet. Chairman Ivan Haskins welcomed two new board members Mrs. Eldred Cathers and Mrs. Jasper Farrish who were recently appointed by council to replace Mrs. Jack. Ferguson, and Mrs. Melville Dennis who retired after several years service. Mrs. Donald Watson was appointed as new secretary treasurer, Residents of Gorrie and surrounding area are invited to make use of the Huron County Library branch now in the hall basement.
