Huron men
on Conestoga
Two local men were
recently installed as mem-
bers of the board of govern-
ers of Conestoga College.
Both Patrick Newington, of
Clinton and Donald Wheeler
of Goderich were appointed
by the school's board of
regents.
Mr, Newington is manu-
facturing manager of ExCello
Corporation of Canada. His
background includes posi-
tions with ExCello and the
Ford Motor Company as a
toolmaker,
Mr. Wheeler was ac-
claimed reeve of the Town of
Goderich in 1980, and has
served on Huron County
council, the board of gover-
nors of Alexandra Marine
Hospital, a member of the
Housing Action Committee
(Goderich Senior Citizens
Housing units) and co-
chaired the London panel on
Great Lakes Pollution.

Novice team was in a tourna-
ment in Seaforth. In the first
game, Brussels played Han-
over defeating the Hanover
team 3-2.

On Friday, Brussels Atoms
played an exhibition game
against Belgrave with Bel-
grave winning 4-0.
On Wednesday, Febru-
ary 18, Brussels Midgets
travelled to Paisley to start
the second round of the
play-offs. In a very exciting
hockey game, the score was
tied 5-5 at the end of the
third period, so they had to
play one ten minute overtime
with each team scoring two
more goals.
This left the game tied
with each team getting one
point . Goal scorers were
not available.
On Sunday, February 22,
Paisley was in Brussels only
to defeat the home team 5-2.
This gives Paisley a 3-1 lead

Brussels Bantams started the
second round of the play-offs
against Teeswater in the best
3 out of 5, with Brussels
defeating Teeswater 5-3. On
Sunday, February 22, Tees-
'water played in Brussels with
the home team winning by a
score of 7-3 to give Brussels a
4 point lead in the series.
This week Brussels Pee
Wees played two exhibition
games against Listowel. On
Thursday, in Listowel, Brus-
sels defeated Listowel 4-3
with goals being 'scored by
Sean Keiffer, Dean. Wheeler,
Marty Rutledge and Mike
Saxon, Assists going to Rob
Zimmer, Mike Vader, Paul
Tolton and bean Wheeler.
On Friday,. February 20,
Brussels and Listowel tied
with three goals each. Goals
were scored by Wayne
Wheeler, Shawn Bremner,
and Marty Rutledge with
assists going to Sean Kieffer;
David Wheeler and Wayne
Wheeler.
On Friday, the Novice
team Was at home to Mitchell
in the third game of the

The Ethel W.I. meeting for
February was held at the
home of Mrs. Ralph Keffer.
The Ethel 11 4-H home-
making club called the "Six
Slick Slip Stitchers" has
recently started , the spring
project called Ready...Get
Set...Sew!!
At the first meeting mem-
bers learned the objectives of
this project and elected the
officers. They learned about
fabrics and patterns and took
measurements. This project
sounds like it will be a very
enjoyable one and all are
looking forward to it.
Donna and Darlene Boyd
of Listowel were special
guest singers in the Ethel
United Church on Sunday.
May Godden is a patient in
Listowel Hospital.
Mrs. L.A. Wardlaw and
Mr. and Mrs. Benny Craft-
chick visited• with Mrs. D:
Wardlaw on the weekend.

believe it or not, Bob Locking
has tapped a maple tree or so
to get an early taste of syrup.

week and picked some leeks'
for Mrs. Wardlaw.
