Jack Riddell, Liberal MAP for Huron-Middlesex, sent a copy of a letter to the board which he had written to the Hon. James Snow, ministry . of transportation and communications, expressing his concern and the school boarri's concern that the mii.istry had turned down the request for stop lights at the intersection of Highway No. 8 and Perth County road 10 in Dublin, following a recent fatal accident and previous fatalities at this corner. Mr. Riddell said the main concern was that eight school buses cross this intersection each school day. "We are aware of staffing problems and our original purpose was to retain music as an extra-cuirricular activity as it exists now," he said. "However, we have contact- ed the Grade 8 students in feeder schools and the inter- est gees beyond extra-curric- ular. The bulk of the students want a credit course." Mr. Hearn indicated there are 30 students in the school band and an additional 60 students from elementary feeder schools interested in a music program. He claimed that such numbers would mean an automatic music program in Goderich, In his presentation to the board, Mr. Hearn submitted that the goal of education was to develop student tal- ent.
