Brussels curlers win prizes all over
On Wednesday, Feb-
ruary 4, members of Brussels
curling teams attended a
curling bonspiel in Belmore.
The nine o'clock draw was
won by the team skipped by
Ken Innes with Orval Bauer -
vice; Mery Bauer second;
Jim Bowman - lead.
A Farmers Bonspiel was
held in Wingham on Satur-
day, February 7. The team
skipped by Ken Innes won
the nine o'clock draw with
Orval Bauer - vice; Doug
Hemingway - second and Jim
Bowman - lead.
Third prize went to anoth-
er rink from the Brussels
area' skipped by Jim Byers
with Ken Bray as vice; Tom
Warwick - second and Ross
Cunningham - lead.

their first game which saw
Brussels winning 7-2 over
Hanover. Scoring for, Brus-

Paul Tolton, 2; with singles
going to Marty Rutledge,
David Wheeler and Sean.

team from Brussels attend-
ing. The skip was Steward
Steiss; the vice was Les
Knight; second was Gerritt

Dave Wheeler,
In regular mixed curling
on February 2, winners were
the teams of Ken Bray, Ross
Cunningham, John Byers,
Les Knight, Dan Pearson,
Fred Uhler, Gerritt Van
Keulen, Jim Patterson and
Max Oldfield.
There was a tie between
the teams of Stewart Steiss
anti Bob Alexander that
came down to the very last
stone.
In ladies afternoon curling
which was held on Monday
this week because of the
curling bonspiel on Tuesday,
winning by a score of 6-1.
This gives Brussels a 2-0 lead
in the best of five series.
Scoring for Brussels was
Doug Shaw, 2; Rob Cardiff,
2; with Darrin Watts, 1; and
Kevin Johnston, 1; assists
going to Rob Cardiff, Darrin
Watts and Tim Fritz. The
next game will be Wednes-
day, February 11 in Brussels
at 7:00 p.m.
In other games played in
Brussels, on February 6, the
Brussels Atoms ,played an
exhibition game against a
house league team from List-
owel which Brussels defeat-
ed 16-0. Goal scorers were
not available, but I think
every boy on the team got a
goal or an assist in the game.
The other game on February
6 saw Brussels at home to
Lucknow in the first game in
. best 2 out of 3 series with
Brussels edging Lticknow by
a score of 5-4. Scoring for
Brussels Were -Dean Wheel-
er, 2; Marty Rutledge, 1;
Shawn Bremmer, 1; and Paul
Tolton 1; assists going to
David Wheeler, Marty Rut-
ledge and Dean Wheeler.
The next game is Luck,
now, ori Wednesday, Feb-
ruary 11.

Bob Alexander - lead didn't
win anything.
The team of Stewart Steiss
also won first in a.curling
bonspiel held in Monkton on
January.
