However, by lending a player to the opposition when a spare was not availa- ble, all teams were able to complete their games on Monday afternoon due to the bonspiel on Tuesday, The winners for January 19 were Sharon Cowman, Nora. Stephenson and Karen Uhler. The winners for the January 19 mixed curling were the rinks of Ken Bray, On Monday Jan. 26 Brus- sels Midgets started the first round of the W.O.A.A. double D play-off in the best 3 out of 51, The first game played in Lucknow ended in a 3-3 tie. Goals scored by Todd Wheeler 1, Kevin Dietner 1 and Pete Bennett 1, assists going to Pete Bennett, Steve Knight and Darrin Watts. On Jan. 31 the Brussels Midgets were in a tourna- ment in Ripley. They played Mildmay in the first game winning by a score of 4-1. Scoring for Brussels were Kevin Dietner 2, Todd Wheeler 1 and Darrin Watts 1, assists going to Pete Bennett and Darrin Watts. In the second game Brussels lost to Zurich 4-1 to be e litminated from the tourn- ament with the only goal going to Bruce Boneschansk- er. On Wednesday Jan, 28 Brussels Bantams started their best of 3 out of 5 against Lucknow. The first game was played in Brussels Jan. 28 with Brussels playing to a 7-4 victory over Lucknow. Goals scored by Rob Cardiff 2, Tim Fritz 2, singles going to Dean Rutledge, Rick Knight and Darrin Watts. Assists going to Darrin Watts, Paul Machan, Kevin McArter, Les Knight, Murray Huetheri Dan Pearson, Gerritt Van Keulep, Brad Speiran, Bob, Alexander and Ernie Lewing- ton who seldom misses his shots. A ice game resulted between Fred Uhler and Jim Patterson. Qrval Bauer is not to be overlooked, His team should have been listed with the curling champions on Mon- day evening, January 12. Then on Jammu 19, he and Ross Veitch met. What a match! It was real champion- Wayne McCutcheon, Rob Cardiff, Gary Armstrong, David Cossitt, Kevin John- ston and Dean Rutledge. The next game to be played in Lucknow on Feb. 4 at 8:30 On Fri. Jan. 30 the novice team travelled to Milverton only to be defeated by a score of 3-1. Brussels only goal being scored by Steven Fritz. Brussels on Friday, Jan. 30 saw the Brussels Atoms at Jim Adams topped all the men in the Brussels Mixed Bowling League with his 314 single and his 83 8 triple. Second high single was Don Bradd with 303 and Carson Watson was third with 248. Second high triple was Don Bra dd with 716 and Carson Watson was third with 631. Ladies high single was Audrey Cardiff with 227. Wilda Higgins was second with 202 and Janet Beirnes was third with 201. Ladies ship curling for both teams all the way through, As a result, they ended in a tie with the score 3.3 and two blank ends. Wow! That game won't soon be forgotten. Who needs to go to the Briar to watch good curling? We have it right here on our doorstep. Cotiie on out to the curling arena some Monday night and see it for your- selves. Ernie Lewington and Bob Alexander will try for a four game championship on the 9 p.m. draw on January home against Seaforth with the game ending in a 2-2 tie. Goals scored by Dean Nich- olson 1, Jeff Earl 1, assists going to Steve Wheeler. In the second game of the evening Brussels Pee Wee played Mitchell with Brus- sels winning by a score of 9-0. Leading the scoring for Brussels was Marty Rutledge with 6, Dean Wheeler 2 and Robbie Zimmer 1, assists High triple was Audrey Cardiff with 548. Second high. triple was Pat Newby with 518 and Wilda Higgins was third with 511. Games over 200: Walt Taylor 203, Don Bradd 201 and 303 and 212, Jim Adams 26. Could it be possible that they might tie as well? Oh what suspense! The final game for this draw is on February 2. Don't miss it. The first bonspiel spon- sored by McGavin Farm Equipment Ltd. on Tuesday, January 20 was a big success this winter, The weather co-operated beautifully for a change, even though it was a bit foggy. There were two draws with four ices each in play on the first draw, the first prize was awarded to going to Wayne Wheeler, Dean Wheeler, Paul Toltor, Mike Saxon, Mike Vader, David Wheeler, Sean Kieffer and Rob Zimmer. Pee Wee - Wed. Feb. 4 at 7:00, Lucknow vs. Brussels. Midgets at 8:30, Lucknow vs. Brussels. Fri. Feb. 6 - Atom at 7:00, Hensall vs. Brussels. Ban- tam at 8:30 Lucknow vs. Brussels. 257, 267 and 314, Cliff Hoegy 216, Audrey Cardiff 227, Wilda Higgins 202, Carson Watson 213. Team Standings: Super Jets 86, Hot Dogs 76, Going All The Way 69, Gutter Balls 65, Losers 53, Spinners 49. Doug and Wilma Rathwell and Brian and Ruth Adams. They were the overall win- ners for the day, getting the trophy with three wins and a plus of 16. Second prize was won by Allan and Geraldine Siernon and Bill and Mary Baxter with two wins and a plus of six. Third prize went to Dan Pearson, Rosemary Wheeler,Keith Mulvey and Sharon Cowman with two wins and a plus of four. The consolation was taken by Stewart and Madeline Steiss and Ron and Doris McLean. The second draw was won by Bill and Bonnie Taylor and Earl and Audrey Fitch with three wins and a plus of 10. Second prize went to Ross Veitch, Jamieson and Faye Ribey and Marg Mof- fat, with two wins and a plus of 12. Third prize went to Don McDonald, Marie Mc- Gavin, Ken McDonald and Betty Cardiff with two wins and a plus of 9. The Consolation prize went to Orval and Ruth Bauer, Jen- net Locking and. Tom War- wick. Prizes of meat went to all the top winners with Bill Taylor getting the rooster.
