Midgets beat Seaforth 5-3

On January 21, The Brus-
sels Bantams played at home
against Mitchell with Brus-
sels defeating Mitchell, 4-2.
Goals were scored by Darrin
, Watts with 3, Kevin McArter
1 and assists going to Kevin
Johnston and Darrin Watts.
In the second game of the
evening, Brussels. Midgets
defeated Huron Park by the
score of 5-4. Goals were
scored by Todd Wheeler with
3, Steven Knight with 1 and
a diamond shaped pattern,
looking like the tread of an
old tire.
At the lower end of the
scale are soft woods such as
hemlock and white pine,
spruce and cedar. These
burn quickly, produce nUM-
crous sparks and short lived
ashy beds of coals.
There is also much heat
loss in weathered wood, e.g.
dead trees, nor will you be
getting full heat producing
capabilities from cordwood
that has been stored for
several years. The highest
heat intensity is obtained
from wood that has been cut,
split, stacked and dried un-
der cover for one year prior
to its use.
On. Tuesday, Jan, 20,
Brussels Bantams were at
Seaforth, only to be defeated
by Seaforth by a score of 5-3.
Goals were scored by Doug
Shaw with 2, and Robbie
Cardiff with 1, with assists
going to Darrin Watts.
The second game played at
Seaforth on January 20 was
Brussels Midgets defeating
the home team by a score of
5-3. Goals were scored by
Todd Wheeler with 2, Kevin
Dietner with 2, and Steve
Knight 1, with assists going
to Keven Dietner, Bruce and
Robert Boneschansker 1,
with assists going to Kevin

The initial step towards a
wood pile that yields dollar
savings in home heating is
recognition of tree species
that are high in heat content.
Topping the list in BTU's
per air dry cord arc the
hickories, oaks, maples, elms
beech, ironwood and v bite
ash. Canada's sugar maple
with its dark grey bark is one
of the best for use in a wood
stove. This wood is high in
heat content, low in resin
pockets and forms a glowing
bed of lingering coals that
have few or no sparks. A
near rival in heat production
is the beech with its smooth.
silvery grey bark. Not to be
overlooked is the ironwood,
an excellent source of heat.
Me tree has tough, heavy
wo(•d and thin shaggy brown
hark which clings tightly to
the trunk in long narrow
strips, and is easily rubbed
off. Another fuel prospect is
the white ash. It has a dark
grey bark with interlacing
ridges and fissures that form
