JANUARY 21. 1981 Kevin Wheeler and his pair partner Christine Hough of Kitchener won the gold medal at Central Division Championships at Winnipeg. Kevin is a member of Brus- sels and Preston F.S. Clubs and Christine is a member of Kitchener-Waterloo and Preston Clubs. Kevin and Christine were given a by from Western Ontario Sect- ionals in November as Kevin was unable to compete be- cause of a severe bout of mono and they were off the ice for eight weeks so felt they had little chance as their competition were working hard all this time and since Christmas Kevin has ost • nearly all his hearing as a result of his illness and faces possible surgery. They won 1st in pre-novice pair last year and have only skated together 11/2 years and Chris- tine is only eleven so they compete against older and experienced skaters but will do their•best next week in • Halifax against Novice pairs from all over Canada. Carol Wheeler and her pair partner Michael Koshil- ka of Collingwood won the silver medal for Junior pair in Ottawa at Eastern Divi- sional Championships and Brussels Rebekah Lodge has had a busy fall season. Verna Thomas is our District Deputy President and she entertained her staff at din- ner in November after Mary Lowe as acting D.D.P. had will also go on to the Canadian Championships in Halifax next week. Carol and Michael have only skated together since Sept. '80. These four young skaters will join together to form a foursome pair to compete at this same competition but are not expected to do to well as they compete against Senior Pairs who have won international competitions. installed officers in five lodges in the District. This Tuesdays evening we were back to ,our regular meeting with Noble Grand Mary Lowe and Vice Grand Lillian Moses presiding., Plans were made for , a Valentine Dessert euchre on Monday February 9 for la- dies and gents. At the close of the meeting everyone enjoyed a few games and euchre and lunch was served. Benjamin Pollard, who was born in Ethel, 103 years ago on New Year's Day, recently celebrated his birth- day at a Nursing Home in Obituaries FORAN Mary (Pollard) Foran, formerly of Goderich, in her 94th year died at Huronview on Sunday, January 18, 1981. Beloved wife of the late William Foran. Also pre- deceased by her parents, Patrick and Mary Anne (Kearney) Pollard and four brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Edward and Oswald. Resting at the McCallum Funeral Home, Cambria Road at East St., Goderich. Funeral ser- vice was held at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church for Funeral Mass. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery. ELMER SELLERS Elmer Woodrow Sellers died in Barrie on January 15, 1981 in his 64th year. A former resident of the Bluevale area, he is survived by his wife Marjorie Sellers, one daughter Susan, two sons Jim and. Richard, one brother Clifford Woodrow and two half-brothers all in the West, one brother Walter Sellers of Morris Township, also several cousins in this area.
