Church holds annual
, There was a good turn
out for, the annual meeting
that followed a pot luck
dinner and the morning
church service Sunday, Jan-
uary 18.
Greeters at the door for the
church service were Bruce
Clark and Harvey McClure.
Mrs. Elva Wilbeu was or-
ganist for the hymns, Rev.
Charles A. Swan's sermon
was "Many gifts, One
spirit."
The offering was
received by Ian Wilbee,
Harvey McClure and Murray
Sholdice.
A delicious pot luck dinner
was arranged by the 17th &
Boundary unit of the U.C.W.

Mrs. Jack Jenkins opened
the January meeting of the
Bluevale Missionary Society
of Knox Presbyterian Church
on Jan. 6 at the home of Mrs.
Joe Walker. She prayed for
the guidance through the
year for the installation of
officers.

Mrs. Ross Gray chose
scripture from Genesis "Be-
ginning everything new, but
God is the same, yesterday,
to-day and forever.' We are to
keep his commandments and
walk in his ways. We should
seek the Lord and his
strength continually. She
said Mrs. Alex MacTavish
offered prayer.
Mrs. Gray gave the trea-
surer's report. The offering
was received by Matthew
Trites with prayer by Mrs.
Golley.
Ten members named a
woman of the bible in answer
to the roll call and two
children were present. Each
member gave .50 for the
Presbyterial fee and the
January 19 meeting in
Wingham was discussed as
well As buying a life member
ship Placing a money box
in the church was voted
down.
Mrs. Gray was in charge of
the topic, "Jesus the divine
Companion." She told of
Jesus visiting with Mary,
while Martha Worked in the
responsible for cleaning up.
Rev. Charles A. Swan
chaired, the annual meeting
;hat followed, opening with a
short devotional period. Mrs.
Margaret Craig was appoint-
ed secretary, reading the
minutes of last year's annual
meeting.
Reports from all organiza-
tions were most satisfactory.
They are now operating
under the Unified ,Board
System, which meets once a
month.
Rev. Charles , A. , Swan
outlined the report of the
Unified Board in the absence
of Doug Fraser.
Thanks was given to Mrs.
Marjorie Humphries for the
work on the front cover of the
kitchen. Martha was
practical and busy while
Mary was enjoying being
with Jesus. Are too many of
us like Martha? she asked. •
A social time
was spent while Mrs. Gray
and Mrs. MacTavish served
lunch.
Sincere sympathy is
expressed to Mrs. Leslie
Greenaway and family on the
passing of Mr. Greenaway at
his home on Friday.

Mrs. Thos MacDonald of
Brussels were New Years
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl
King of Harriston.

leadership in the church
since he arrived six months
ago. A minute's , silence was
offered in memory of those
who passed away this year,
followed with prayer by Rev.
Charles A. Swan.
Thanks was, extended to
Herb Traviss for cutting the
grass and Jim Carter and Bill
Coutts for the removal of the
snow.
There was much discus-
sion on the fire insurance on
Mr. and Mrs. Archie
Miller, and Mrs. Thos.
MacDonald of Brussels
visited Mr. and Mrs.
Beverley Brears of
Palmerston R.R. 3, on
Christmas Day.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Currie,
Robert and Paul of
Wingham, R.R. 3, were New
Year visitors with Mrs. John
Strong.
Mr. of Bluevale;
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Pyke and
family were Christmas Day
guests of Mr. and Mrs. John
Van de Kemp R.R. 2 Gorrie.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Hyndman and also Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Sinclair, and
Rob. of Oakville were New
Year visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Jas Hyndman of
Guelph.
Mrs. Glad Edgar, Mr.

Tuesday with the family of
the, church and manse,. This
is to be left with the Property
and, Finance committee to
report back to the Unified
Board.
Auditors-Don McDonald
and, Doug Fraser were re-
appointed auditors, same as
last year.
The estimate budget was
accepted for 1981 and the M.
& S. objectives were met.
Several names for the
anniversary service were,
suggested.
Thanks was extended to
Mrs. Marilyn McDonald who
did the typing of the books.
The minister expects to take
his hOlidays in August. The
meeting was adjourned with
the Benediction.
