ALLAN McCALL 887-6677 The , monthly,n meeting of the Youth Group met on .Tuesday evening at Duff's Upited Church when plans were made fot Youth Sunday January, 25. A, report will be givep from those who attend- ed Toc Alpha. Special music from the Road Block Group 'of the. Christian Reform Church, Blyth. The Youth Group members ,will be in charge of the morning ser- vice. The Youth Group was formed last fall, September 28 with 13 members. The purpose of the Youth Group is learning, fellowship, fun, serving and worship. The Youth Group officers are as follows: President-Murray Sholdice, Vice-President- Brian McGavin, Secretary- Elaine Dennis, Program committee-John Huether, Cathy McGayin and , Jeanne McDonald, Social Food Con- venor-Cheryl Fraser • ,and Patricia Hackwell. The Youth Group counsellors are Bruce Clark and Rev. Charles Swan. EUCHRE The Tuesday night euchre was held in the community hall with 10 tables in play. Prize winners were as follows: High Lady- Margery Ritchie, low lady - Margaret Craig, lady with most 2 on card-Teenie Achilles. High man-Law- rence Ryan, low man-Harold Bolger, men with most 2 on card-Mel Jacklin. Institute hostesses were Berva Wat- son, Margery Huether, Lavine Watson , and Betty McCall. , The hostesses in charge for the card party in two weeks are to be Maxine Marks, Mary Humphries, Leona McDonald and Elva Bolger. WALTON UNAT MEETING The Walton' Unit meet- ing was held in the church basement; Wednesday eve- ning, January 14. Mrs. Alex Quint zen opened with a poem. Mrs. , Herb ,Traviss was, pianist The med- itation on Deeper the spirit- ual life of the women of the church" was prepared by Mrs. N. Reid and read by Mrs. A. McCall followed by prayer. The offering was received and dedicated. Hymn, 'Take time ,to, be holy" closed the devotional part of the meeting. Mrs. Herb Traviss gaye very interesting messages on a New Year and Turn a New Page. For the topic, Mrs. Traviss read the story "I am a Foot", closing with poem. "Isn't anyone happier?'". The business was conduct- ed by the president, Mrs. A. Gulutzen opening with a poem, "A New Year". Min- utes were read by, Mrs. Howard Hackwell, also cards of thanks from Mrs. Edna Hackwell, George and. Verna Johnston for the shower gifts and from the Thamer family for serving lunch after the funeral. There were 20 mem- bers answering the roll call. Copper Contest leaders for this year will be. Mrs., Ruth Thamer and Mrs. Dorothy Sholdice. U.C.W. member- ship fees were collected. A carpet sweeper is to be purchased for the cleaning of the carpet in the church. The supper committee met at the church on Thursday to make plans for the 4-H leaders dinner on Monday. The Huron-Perth Presbyterial annual meeting was men- tioned for Monday, January 26 at Brucefield United church at 10 a.m., Delegates are planning to go from the unit and everyone is to take their box lunch with coffee to be supplied. Everyone was, invited to attend the quilting on Tuesday at Judy Emmr,ich's. Bring your lunch and join in the fellowship with the ,other ladies. Pro- grams for the unit and U.C.W. were distributed to everyone present. Mrs. Gulutzen closed, the meeting with prayer. A,social half hour was enjoyed over a cup of tea and sandwiches served by the hostesses, Mrs. Dave Watson, Mrs. Torrance Dundas and Mrs; Stewart Humphries. 17TH AND BOUNDARY UNIT MEETING Mrs. Martin Baan was hostess at her home for the January, meeting of the 17th and Boundary , unit. Mrs. Judy ,Glauser opened the devoticins with the hymn "Creations Lord, we give thee thanks", then a script- ure reading from Luke 15: 1-6, and Luke 12: 16-21 I followed by a of "Success is the roll of life". Responsive reading, "Liberating LCive". Mrs. Harvey Craig led in prayer. Mrs., Glauser read a modern version of, Psalm 23. Mrs. H. Craig gave the topic, "Faith Reborn and Research on Human Peace." followed by singing the hymn "The Church's One Founda- tion" which closed this part of the meeting. , Mrs. Graeme Craig took over for the business reading a poem, "Gifts of the New Year". Minutes were read,by Mrs. George Williamson. ; Roll call was answered by each member paying their Mike and Faye Devereaux of Seaforth. , Miss.
