Proceeds are for cancer research. The January meeting of the Cranbrook W.I. was held at the home of Mrs. Fred Smith with a good attendance. The meeting was convened by Mrs. John Vanass and Mrs. Jim Hart. The guest speaker was Mrs. John Blake who told about her life in Poland. Mrs. Vanass will be hostess for the February meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Lentz and family of P.E.I. visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton. SUSANNAH ELLEN HART Mrs. George (Susannah Ellen) Hart of R.R. 2, Brussels died at the Seaforth. Community Hospital on Saturday, January 3. She was in her 85th year. She was born in Grey Township, daughter of the late Angus Carmichael and Susannah Shiels. She was married to George Henry Hart who predeceased her in December of 1980. Surviving are two daughters, Etta (Mrs. Fred Buchanan) Of Kinburn and Jean (Mrs. Ross Anderson) of Bornholm and four sons John at home, Charles of Goderich, James and Robert of Grey Township. Also surviving are 18 grand- children and three great- grandchildren. Funeral and commital services were held from the Brussels chapel of the M.L. Watts. Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 6 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dr. J. K .R. Thomson of Knox Presbyterian Church. Cranbrook officiating. Pallbearers were Harry Gillis, Ross McTaggart, Jim- McTaggart, Michael Gulutzen, Henry Reesor and Robert Hennick. Flowerbearers were Betty Buchanan, Brenda Anderson and Donna and Cheryl Hart. Temporary entombment is in the Brussels cemetery chapel with burial to follow in the spring'. HAZEL islAg CLARKE Mrs. Clarence Clarke of R.R. 2, Listowel died at the Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 6. She Was in her 69th year. The former Hazel Mae Raynard is survived by her husband. Clarence , three daughters, Vivien (Mrs. Ken Laidlaw) of R.R. 1, Atwood; Ruth ( Mrs. Russel Kirk- patrick) of R.R. 3, Elmwood; Linda (Mrs. Richard Rush) of R.R. 2, Listowel and two sons Harvey of R.R. 1, Atwood and Cecil of Atwood. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Laura McFarlane of Bluevale, Mrs. Doris McFarlane of Listowel and one brother, Cecil Raynard of Ethel. She was predeceased by her parents, Austin and Essie Raynard and two brothers, . Sylvester and John. . The body was at the Pebbles Funeral Home, John St., Atwood until Friday, January 9, when funeral and commital services were held at the funeral home. Temborary entombment is in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ethel with spring burial to follow. Pallbearers were Murray and Brian Clarke and Doug, Don, Robert and Jerry Laidlaw, Flowerbearers were Rosemary Laidlaw, Mary Lou Clarke, Richard and Roger Kirkpatrick. Church of Canada. Surviving are seven sons Williard, and Donald of Winnipeg, Gerald of Alberta, Robert of Brussels, Cyril of Molesworth, Fred of St. Marys and Thomas of R.R. 2 Wroxeter; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Steckley of Winnipeg; four brothers, Keith, Lloyd and Fred Saylor, all of Ottawa and Cyril Saylor of Africa; a sister, Mrs. Lee White of Ottawa and 20 grandchildren. Mrs. Stevens was prede- ceased by her husbands and brother Donald. Funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 3rd at the -Robert French Funeral Home in Listowel. Rev. Bert Vancook officiated. Cremation to follow. WALTER PORTER Word was received in Brussels of the death of Walter Porter of Port Col- borne, a former resident of Brussels. He passed away on Christ- mas Eve, December 24th, in Welland County General Hospital where he had been a patient for several Weeks. He was 83 years of age. The late Mr. Porter is well remembered by many in this community. He came to Brussels as Manager of the Bank of Commerce and re- mained in that position for a number of years. He was a member of Melville Presby- terian Chruch, Brussels and of Brussels Lions Club. Surviving are his wife of Port Colborne and daughter Joyce. Funeral service was held on December 27th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Mc- Clure and Rev. Philip Brown officiating. Interment in First Presbyterian Church I Cemetery Penetanguishene. Remember!
