A game of dodge ball was played. White and and John Steffler shared the shut-out honours for the goal tending duties. Remember our Minor Sports dance this Saturday night at the community centre. Your attendance is needed to make our season a success and would be very much appreciated by those trying to run the organization so that the 115 boys registered in hockey and the 14 girls in Ringette have their expenses looked after this year. Hope to see you there. Please turn. to page 16 Every lady, whether curl- ing Monday night or Tuesday afternoon is expected to help with one bonspiel. The lists are up now and the ladies are already planning a meal for the club's first bonspiel. The first bonspiel is com- ing up on January 20, sponsored by McGavin Farm Equipment Ltd. It is a mixed bonspiel and it is on a Tuesday this year which may help to bring in the rinks from out of town. Other curling bonspiels coming up in Brussels are a men's curling bonspiel spon- sored by the Brussels Stock- yards on. Tuesday, February 3; a men's open bonspiel sponsored by. the Brussels Lions on Tuesday, February 17 and the McDonald Build- all Invitational (Mixed) bonspiel on Saturday, March 7. The January draw is prov- ing to be very interesting and excitement is running high. There is a real competitive feeling just like a bonspiel. For the first game, the skips Green won the first game, White and Blue won the second game. • Cubs worked on the Tawny Star doing a poem and acting out a skit. Members dis- cussed the Winter Cub badge and decided to do it outside with a meeting or cookout. The outdoor meet- ing was chosen for the badge. The following received badges: ' Andrew McCutcheon, Greg Wheeler, Blair Davidson and Billy Marion. Correction In a curling news item last week in the Post, it was incorrectly reported that the Stuart Stevenson rink was the winner of the _first draw when the name should have been Stewart Steiss. In a report on the ladies afternoon curling, .Isabel Smith was listed as a mem- ber of Norah Stephenson's team when it should have been Isobel Sims. draw numbers for their ices. Each week after that, the high winners play high win- ners, the low winners play low winners, the high losers play high losers and low losers play low losers. No team will play the same team twice. Fred and Karen Uhler are keeping score and organ- izing each week's competi- tion. 'The winners of the first week were the rinks of Orville Bauer, Howard Hack- well, Ross Veitch, Ross Cunningham, Fred Uhler, Ernie Lewington, Stewart Steiss, Max Oldfield and Bob Alexander. A tie resulted between Ken Bray and Gor- don Stephenson. Max Old- field was the highest winner. The January draw got off to a good start for the ladies with Norah Stephenson, Fran Bremner's rink and Joyce Alexander skipping the win- ner's rink. There are seven rinks so one sits out each week. Sharon Cowman's rink was off for the first game. Karen Uhler's rink is off for the second game, and Joyce Alexander's rink is off for the third game. Yvonne Knight's rink is off for the fourth game; Norah Stephenson is off for the fifth game and Fran Bremner's rink sits out for the last game. This gives everyone five games a draw-- all but the team skipped by Kendra Krauter which will count only five games ofthe six games played. One game will be thrown out score-wise, but they still play it. Rather than cancel out one particular game in advance, which might hinder the rink's per- formance for that day, it was decided that the game with the lowest difference in scores, whether a win or a loss Would not be counted at the end. The club welcomed three more ladies to the ladies afternoon curling. Two of these are beginners.
