Po CAPITOL THEATRE 291-3070 Listowel we know There were no minor hockey league -games scheduled over the holiday season and with Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve falling on Wednesday nights, only one Friday night and Saturday ice times produced any hockey activities. The Bantam team was able to catch up on •a previously cancelled game with the Wingham Bantams last Sun- day night. At the end of the first period the home team was trailing by a 3-1 score. They seemed to get or- ganized in the second period to score 5 unanswered goals. Wingham 'added a single goal in the third period with the final score reading Brussels 6, Wingham 4, Darrin Watts and Tim Fritz scored 2 goals each, with Gary Armstrong and Kevin McArter getting singles. Assists went to Doug Shaw, Dean Rutledge, David 1st Stuart Stevenson skip, Maria Van Kuelen vice, Annette Leivirigton second, Doug Hoegy lead, 52 points. 2nd - Jim Patterson, skip; Nancy Exel, vice; Darlene Oldfield. second; Hank I iaasnoot, lead, 40 points. 3rd - Ross 'Veitch, skip; Fran Bremner, vice; Mervyn Bauer, second; Rene Rich- mond, lead, 40 points. 4th - Les Knight and Dan Pearson tied With 36% points They aggregate gave US Knight 31 and bon PeasOn 29 with the winners Les Knight, Cossitt, Kevin Johnston, Kevin McArter and Darrin Watts. There were three six-end games played, On the first draw, the rink of ' Doug Sholdice took first prize and other members on his team were: Frances Bremner--Vice; Doug Hoegy- second; Rick McDonald- lead. The team had a total of 48 'A points for the day. Second prize went to the team of Mervin Bauer, with Norah Stephenson- vice; Ken McDonald- second arid Helen Bray- lead, with 36 points, Third prize went to the rink of Don McDonald which got 301/2 points. Othet tearri members consisted of Betty Finch- vice; Cliff Bray- second arid Donna Batter- lead. Fred Uhler's rink WaS the Jim Adams Pat Newby top bowlers Jim Adams was the high bowler of the night in the Brussels Mixed Bowling League with his 684 triple and 274 single. Second high triple was Danny McKay with 606 and Stewart Cardiff was third with 596. Cliff Hoegy was second high single with 249 and Stewart Cardiff was ;third with 246. For the ladies, Pat Newby topped all with her triple of 552 and high single of 207. Ladies second high triple was Pat Keifer with 508 and Wilda Higgins was third with 503. Marlene Cowie was second high single with 206 and Pat Keffer was third with 189. Games over 200 were: Walt Taylor 237 & 203, Pat Newby 207, Danny McKay 233 & 240, Stewart Cardiff .246, Brian Secrett 204 & 208, Jim Adams, 209, 274 & 201, Cliff Hoegy 249, Marlene Cowie 206, Bob Brandon 218. Mrs McCutcheon honoured at 80 On December 27, a sur- prise 80th birthday party for Mrs. Bessie McCutcheon of Maple Villa Apartments was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Simpson. After the guest of honour opened her gifts and cards, the hostess served birthday cake, ice cream. Those attending were a few close relatives and friends.
