Mr. Harrison on behalf of the Marshall Harrison and Harrison Bros, former store and mill owners, thanked everyone for their patronage during the past years. Mrs. Harrison thanked everyone for making the evening so enjoyable.. Several Moncrieff couples visited with Marshall Harri- son at his home in Monkton on Saturday evening. They presented him with a reclin- ing chair on behalf of his Moncrieffsfriends and neigh- bours. Mr. Harrison was unable to attend the farewell party on Friday evening. J.E. On December 6th, many of our people enjoyed the Santa Claus parade as it passed by the Home. Later on Santa visited here to disbribute Christmas treats. His visit was enjoyed by everyone. Ken Ashton was the Dec- ember Bingo Championship. Frank Dunn was the men's bowling champ and Mrs. Beatrice Cardiff won the women's trophy. . Our baking class was very busy making special treats to serve with hot chocolate to the various community people who were here on December 11th for our Christmas tree decorating party. Bev. Cardiff and her children were at the home as well as Karen Cardiff and her girls; grace r Sargent and Jason, Betty. Graber and her boys; Edna Pearson; Wendy Heibein and. Lynn Taylor. Karen Cardiff played many Christmas carols and songs on the piano while everyone sang along. Betty Graber and Susan Cardiff sang a couple. of songs together and our visitors and residents did a beautiful job of decorating the tree. SCHOOLCHILDREN VISIT Once again, this year, we were pleased to welcome the Brussels Public School children and their teachers to our Home. The Senior choir directed by Ch .eryl Cronin, sang a number of Christmas songs followed by the pri- mary choir made up of children from Grades One, Two and Three. On hand to assist and direct these youngsters were: Mrs. Idel- la Wilson, Miss Luella Mit- chell and Mrs. Mary Huether. Mrs. Mary Douma played the piano. As always, the children performed well ,and our residents enjoyed their program. On the 22nd, we took many of our residents on a local bus tour to see the Brussels Christmas decorations. We appreciated the community's effort to have their Christmas lights on by 6:30 p:m. as our people enjoyed the tour very much.M.,ny visitors* were on hand to assist with the loading and unloading of our residents. After serving re- freshments to everyone, we had an old fashioned Christ. mas sing-song. Due to the succes's of this venture, we will certainly plan to make this "tour" an annual occa- sion! BROWNIES CALL The 23rd was a' busy and exciting day at Callander. Early in the day, the 1st BrusSels Brownie Pack was on hand to sing a large variety of Christmas carols, They were assisted by some girls from the 1st Brussels Girl Guides. The group was directed by Marlene Cowie and Marg Garniss. Visits by the Brussels Brownies and Guides are always enjoyed. Later on, the Blyth Singers were here to sing a large number of inspirational songs as well as reading a couple of pasiages from the Bible. Our residents always benefit spiritually by the regular visits from this group. In the evening, the true meaning and, spirit of Christ- mas was evident when the Brussels Mennonite Fellow- ship conducted a special candlelight service here. After an. opening prayer by Pastor Doug Zehr, our resi- dents and many visitors were part of a very moving ser- vice. Words cannot express the beauty of this experi- ence. Afterwards, our staff and visitors formed a long line and went from room to room to sing Christmas car- ols to those who were unable ta• attend the service. ' The Christmas day, Santa- alias Ralph Pearson-was on hand to distribute the many gifts left under our tree. Edna Pearson prepared and served some festive punch afterwards. There were many visitors here to help our residents celebrate Christmas. It was a long and happy day for everyone!
