The residents at Callander
Nursing Home have experi-
enced a busy and happy
holiday season.
On December 6th, many of
our people enjoyed the Santa
Claus parade as it passed by
the Home. Later on Santa
visited here to disbribute
Christmas treats. His visit
was enjoyed by everyone.
Ken Ashton was the Dec-
ember Bingo Championship.
Frank Dunn was the men's
bowling champ and Mrs.
Beatrice Cardiff won the
women's trophy. .
Our baking class was very
busy making special treats to
serve with hot chocolate to
the various community
people who were here on
December 11th for our
Christmas tree decorating
party. Bev. Cardiff and her
children were at the home as
well as Karen Cardiff and her
girls; grace r Sargent and
Jason, Betty. Graber and her
boys; Edna Pearson; Wendy
Heibein and. Lynn Taylor.
Karen Cardiff played many
Christmas carols and songs
on the piano while everyone
sang along. Betty Graber and
Susan Cardiff sang a couple.
of songs together and our
visitors and residents did a
beautiful job of decorating
the tree.
SCHOOLCHILDREN VISIT
Once again, this year, we
were pleased to welcome the
Brussels Public School
children and their teachers to
our Home. The Senior choir
directed by Ch .eryl Cronin,
sang a number of Christmas
songs followed by the pri-
mary choir made up of
children from Grades One,
Two and Three. On hand to
assist and direct these
youngsters were: Mrs. Idel-
la Wilson, Miss Luella Mit-
chell and Mrs. Mary Huether.
Mrs. Mary Douma played
the piano. As always, the
children performed well ,and
our residents enjoyed their
program.
On the 22nd, we took many
of our residents on a local
bus tour to see the Brussels
Christmas decorations. We
appreciated the community's
effort to have their Christmas
lights on by 6:30 p:m. as our
people enjoyed the tour very
much.M.,ny visitors* were on
hand to assist with the
loading and unloading of our
residents. After serving re-
freshments to everyone, we

mas sing-song. Due to the
succes's of this venture, we
will certainly plan to make
this "tour" an annual occa-
sion!
BROWNIES CALL
The 23rd was a' busy and
exciting day at Callander.
Early in the day, the 1st
BrusSels Brownie Pack was
on hand to sing a large
variety of Christmas carols,
They were assisted by some
girls from the 1st Brussels
Girl Guides. The group was
directed by Marlene Cowie
and Marg Garniss. Visits by
the Brussels Brownies and
Guides are always enjoyed.
Later on, the Blyth Singers
were here to sing a large
number of inspirational
songs as well as reading a
couple of pasiages from the
Bible. Our residents always
benefit spiritually by the
regular visits from this
group.
In the evening, the true
meaning and, spirit of Christ-
mas was evident when the
Brussels Mennonite Fellow-
ship conducted a special
candlelight service here.
After an. opening prayer by
Pastor Doug Zehr, our resi-
dents and many visitors were
part of a very moving ser-
vice. Words cannot express
the beauty of this experi-
ence. Afterwards, our staff
and visitors formed a long
line and went from room to
room to sing Christmas car-
ols to those who were unable
ta• attend the service. '
The Christmas day, Santa-
alias Ralph Pearson-was on
hand to distribute the many
gifts left under our tree.
Edna Pearson prepared and
served some festive punch
afterwards. There were
many visitors here to help
our residents celebrate
Christmas. It was a long and
happy day for everyone!
