There. were 4 of them. Leila, Harvey and their mom and dad. They lived in a small ragged, red shack; They didn't have 'dny money. It came to Christmas. Their mother and father were very sad becauseā€¢ they cotdd- n't buy their children pre- sents. "Dear me," sighed Leila, ''we haven't even got our tree up, and in two days it's going to be Christmas". Leila wanted a doll and. Harvey wanted a truck. Mother jumped with joy and exclaimed; "I know Alan" we can make our Christmas presents." "Good idea Joan, but what can we make?" "Oh, don't be silly! I c) ea in make corn dolls and you can car-e!" The parents worked hard all night. The father carved a truck and the mother made a corn doll. They didn't have a tree, but 'they did have beautiful presents. J.E.
