THE, SRUSSE14..POST .DECEMBER 10 1980,

UCW on. the Virgin..bfrth Governor-General Ed Schreyer has been
asked to be guest speaker when Morris
Township 'holds it 125th 'birthday
celel3rations in 1981.
At a meeting of the 125th celebrations
committee, it was also decided to sent out
1800 invitations to former residents and an
extra 900 were to be ordered to be sent to
each-person in the township.
Ken McDonald got several ideas frem the
people who had worked on the paraded when
Dungannon held its 125th celebration, but
nothing definite has been decided for*the
Morris Parade.
A kick-off dance for the celebration is to be
held on May 2 in the Brussels, Morris and.
Grey Community Centre. The beard growing,
and queen contest will start in the first part
of January.
Molsons has been asked, o supply what:is
needed, for the beer gardens -and the bar,
Campbell and Caridiff will supply beef for
the Saturday night barbecue, the Kinburn
Foresters will supply chicken for the Sunday'
night barbecue and the Belgrave Kinsmen
will supply pork for the Monday barbectie.
No definite plans have been made for the ,
Morris Township history. book. -
The next meeting of the celebrations
committee will be held on January 6,, at 8:30
at the arena,
Dr. Gordon Hazlewood was
the guest speaker when the
Afternoon Unit of the
U.C.W. met at the home of
Mrs. Dorothy Sterner.
His subject was the story
of the Virgin Birth. The
"Who" of Christmas rather
than the "What". There are
three main objections to the
Doctrine of the Virgin Birth.
i.e.
1. Science has always said,
"a virgin birth is impossi-
ble."
2. Just two gospel wirters,
mention it
3. Paul fails to recognize it.
But now, science is not so
sure that a Virgin birth is
impossible. John in his Gos-
pel says "Jesus is the
begotten of the Father" and
Mark calls Him the "Son of
God." Surely these Gospel
writers do refer to a Divine.
Birth. Paul, whose epistles
have the greatest emphasis
on the Resurrection, in his
letter to the Colossians,
addresses Him as, the SOn
who is the image of the
Invisible God, Again this is a
proclamation of the Divinity
of Jesus Christ.
It is absolutely essential in
our Christian faith, that we
believe, in the Virgin Birth,
Dr. Hazelwood said. It is
quite evident that those who
do not, have become careless
.in their belief and are on the
road to disbelief in the
Divinity of Christ. It is all a
great mystery that' God
should come to us in the
flesh. The Incarnation of
God. 'This is the meaning of
Christmas.

Lucas convened the devo-
tions, Christmas Carols were
sung and passages. of Scrip,
