School room of Duff',.?` United church was decdpited for Christmas when the ladies of all units of the U.C.W. met for their Christmas meeting and pot luck supper. The worship service was in charge ,of Mrs. Merton Hackwell, assisted by Mrs. Graeme Craig, Mrs. Murray Dennis, Mrs. Don Fraser and Mrs. Allan McCall who told of the different symbols and hung them on the small Christmas tree. Mrs. Lavern Godkin was pianist for singing of hymns. • All ladies participated in a candle lighting service. Offering was received by Mrs. K. McDonald, de- dicated by Mrs. M. Hackwell. Mrs. M. Hackwell con- tinued giving the Custom and origins of Christmas of other countries. A quartettel Mrs. Neil McGavin,Mrs. M. Hackwell, Mrs. Graeme Craig and Mrs. Lavern Godkin sang Silent Night accompanied by Mrs. Ray Huether at the piano. Mrs. M. Hackwell then told the story of how the Christmas carol Silent Night came to the written. All joined in with the singing of some of the familiar Christmas Carols. Mrs. Hackwell closed with a poem "What is Christmas". Mrs. Don McDonald presided for the business opening with Thoughts on what we get from Christmas. Minutes were approved as •-ead by Mrs. Herb Traviss. the units are reminded that :ilm strips of Partners in the lospel are available from the esource centre in Mitchell. Purpose on Study, fellowship witness and service. The quartette sang another number, "Silver Bells" Rev. Charles A. Swan pronounced the benediction.
