Here you will see large, ,attractive homes
in both the older and neweryartS of the city.
Housing costs are more `reasonable than in
ThrontO. Buslares are considerably cheaper.
There are many fine- commercial, facilities,
shopping centres, stores and restaurants. It
is a city easy, to get around in without a
great deal of traffic congestion.'iou can walk
main streets not, constantly jostled on
crowded sidewalks. People seem more,
relaxed, not always in a desperate butry.
Winnipeg, '.a nice place to live and raise a
family, was My impression.
******
On a bright crisp day we all travelled
south from 'Winnipeg across Manitoba
farmland as far as the Canada-U.S. border.
At this season of the year we saw no crops
other than some corn, Eyes gazed, unint-
pecled, across the flat miles to the far away
horizon. There were ,no trees on cultivated
land but around, distant home,, farm
' buildings, in hamlets and trains we saw, the
green of trees. in some places there. were
built up banks surrounding areas where,
there was danger: of flooding from rampag-
ing waters: There is a strange fascination in
this Wide open prairie land.
******
All too soon it was time to wing our way ,
home. In Ottawa 'and Winnipeg, thanks to
both my families, we had happy ,tunes
together.
