Pen checking your beef
feedlot should: entail a walk.
a stop, a look, a listen. It is a
very important part of feedlot.

those cattle. Leok ahead and
behind, you, Sick cattle will
stand out. They appear
droopy, sleepy eyed and

with little or no tear staining
on the face. They are inquisi-
tive. They will have a clean
and moist 'nose and mouth,
with very little nasal diS- .
charge. , •
Look for the loners` Sick
atiihialsr will; often be 'found
alone. Hoivever, with key!.

A recominended pattern to
walk the pen is to enter at
one corner, walk the peri-

entry. Then walk ,back and
forth side to side working
yotir .way to the rear,,of the
pen, then walk diagonally
back' but 'to point of, entry. . •
