The Belgrave. Hi-C held a
Walk-a-thon on Saturday.
' The route started, at the
Belgrave Arena to the four. I
corners of highway 86 and 4,
to Whitechurch, down the
Division line between East
and. West Wawanosh and up
the 9th line of East Wawa-
, nosh and back into Belgrave,
with various stops along the I
way.
First tecomplete the 25
mile walk was. Corey McKee,
age 10 of Belgrave after 71/2
hours. He will receive a $5.00
award from Murray Scott.
The oldest person walking
was Mrs. John McIntosh and
the youngest person was
Paul. McIntosh who walked to
Whitechurch. Susan Brown
had the most pledges per
mile which was $5.00. Only
eight did not finish. Over
$2,000.000 will be made in-
cluding all expenses.
Half of all proceeds will go
to Terry Fox, Marathon of
• Hope, along with a signed
"Get Well" card from` all of
the walkers. The ramaining
half will help pay for Hi-C
expenses and support of
their Foster Child in Bali.
ACW MEETS •
Mrs. John Swan entertain-
ed the members of the
Belgrave A.C.W.. for the
October meeting at St. Paul's
Church, Wingham. The pres-
ident Mrs. Harold Jardin
read the meditation and
prayers. The scripture was
read by Mrs. Olive',Campbell.
A report of the .0all Dean-
ery Meeting was read by
secretary, Mrs. Clare Van
Camp. The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. Alex
Nethery. Church calendars
were available for sale and ,
everyone. signed a get-well
card for Mrs. Cora McGill
who is in hospital. The
collection was received and
12 members answered the
roll call.
Plans were discussed for
the annual bazaar and sale of
baking to be held in the W.I.
Hall on November 8.
Miss Lillian Potter read
several items of interest con-
cerning the deplorable `con-
ditions in Uganda at the
present time. Mrs. Clarke
Johnston read an article en-
titled "To walk with Au-
tumn" and a poem. "The
meaning of Autumn.'

WMS MEETS
The W.M.S. met October 6
at the home of Mrs. Hebo
Sierstsema.
Mrs. Garner Nicholson
presided. The worship ser-
vice was conducted by Mrs.
George Fear. Mrs. Ivy Cloak-
ey, Mrs. Nicholson and Mrs.
John McBurney led in prayer.
Everyone brought a poem Or
reading on the , theme of
autumn or Thanksgiving.
The treasurer's and secre-
tary's reports were given and
18 visits to sick and shut-ins
were recorded..
Belgrave 2 Party People
met at the W.I. Hall October
16, after school. The roll call
was answered by 12 mem-
bers. Sherrie Fenton was
named press repon er and
Veronica Bakelaar as secre-
tary. Leaders, Mrs. Alex
Nethery and Mrs. Clare Van
Camp talked about hot
snacks, microwave • oven,
toaster broiler oven and the
efficient use of electric range.
All went to the kitchen and
made Pizza, filled crepes
with different kinds of fruits
and they also 'made a meat
dish with a crepe.
The girls had their mo-
thers as guests and they
served the different, types of
food they had made, The
meal was enjoyed by all and.
Mrs, Alan Dunbar thanked
the leaders for inviting mo-
thers.

mother Mrs. Harry McGuire
Mr. and Mrs. 'lames
Cook of Winnipeg, Manitoba
are spending two • weeks'
vacation with their parents
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Cook,
Murray and other relatives.
Mr. and. Mrs. Albert Cook,
were entertained by their
family at the Turnberry
Tavern to a dinner on the
occasion of their 35th wed-
ding anniversary on Sunday
After six weeks of run-
ning,' the Brussels Public
School Cross Country Team
has run an accumulated
distance of 5719 km. This
total is enough to have the
team cover the distance from
Brussels west to Victoria
B.C., resume the run again
at St. John's, Newfoundland
and put their present posi-
tion within five km. of Nova
Scotia-New Brunswick bor-
der. The one hundred mem-
bers of the team still have
1874 km. to run 'before
arriving back in Brussels and
completing the'Cross Canada
tun.
At the present rate, they
should accomplish this by the
end of October. Donations to
the Terry Fox Fund for
Cancer Research total
$257.76 and include a
$100.00 donation from the
last week.

were completely 'surprised to
find 65 relatives, neighbours
and friends had gathered' at
their home to celebrate their
anniversary. A two tier wed-
ding anniversary .cake adorn-
ed the table and a smorgas-
bord lunch was enjoyed by
all. Albert and Joan thanked
everyone for remembering
them on this occasion.

collecting for UNICEF on or
near Hallowe'en. To avoid
having numerous studentst

collecting at each house.

the Huron. Regional meeting
of the United Church Women
on Tuesday evening October
14 in Knox United Church,
Belgrave. The guest speaker
was the Rev. Wesley. Ball of
Thamesford. The theme of
his address was "What = you
don't know may hurt you."

People are back in action
because Arthritis Research is
paying off. Our Arthritis
Society held a canvass in.
Belgrave which amounted to
$164.00. The Society wishes
to thank the Belgrave, people
for their support and also the
canvassers, Mrs- Mac Scat,
Mrs. Helen Martin and Mrs,,
George Michie.
