8 —• THE. BRUSSELS POST, OCTOBER 15, 1980
old Canada toget
The Camadian Parliament
is once again in session.
M.P,'s were recalled one
week, early to debate patria-
tion of our constitution, a
debate which will be long
and contraversial. An issue
which is overdue and essen,
tial. A' daydream which may
become a nightmare.,
Thetask before our
Government is immense,,
They must find a way to hold
• together a country whith is
• diOided by countless ged-
graphical and cultural bar-
riers. Creating a workable
.= constitution for Canada may
be the most difficult job that
any governMent has ever
faced: Nevertheless,. Cana-
dian unity is not, impossible.
Canadik stair together
because the people of this, ,
country want: it to. Since we
- do want Canada to remain'
united, we will find some.
solution to keep it that way.
"
After all, 'we were the people
that built the impossible
railway.
If our government, leaded,
are going to make the, dream
into a realitYs, ',they` ,must
tread on very thin ice. Otir
leadeis must, ',enstire that.
Canada will be a"conntry that
is in- -the *heart of every
citizen, not merely a country
that is found on a piece of
paper in Ottawa. The first
ministers of this country
must complete the national
dream.
To instill Canada into the
hearts of us all, our govern-
ment must create a constitu-
tion that will be for Cana-
dians. This is perhaps why a
National Charter' of Rights is
necessary. A Canadian Char-
ter of Rights would give us a
feeling of belonging in the
same way that the Magna
Carta makes all Britons feel
united. A Charter of Rights
may truly create a Canadian
personality. A Charter of
Rights may create a Cana-
dian common denominator.
A common denominator
which will lceep Canadi
strong and united. A com;
mon denoMinatof which will,
keep the ,,drearn aliye,
Since the dream of a
• united Canada:has been alive
for .113 Years, there is, no
reason for it stop*. All Cana-
dians are proud of what we
have accomplished and we
look forward to what we will
accomplish. We are proud of
our heritage. This is why, I
fee) that 4e*. must remain
sovereign. Our ties with
great Britain give us a
history to look back on. If the
link with' England' is broken,
it will cut us off from the past ,
and without a past, there cant
be no future.

WINNING
Winning is the second step
and wanting to win is the
first. •No, the novel "Win-
ning" was not about a game
in football or basketball that
was teetering on the balance
of championship or loss, but
a story of a teenage fighting
the game of life and at the
end of the battle, coming out
a winner. This young teen-
ager has to face the fact that
he will be a cripple for s the
test of his life.
Gary Madden is no longer
the star of his football team.
During one normal football
game an untimely fall chang-
es the entire pattern of his
life. He is now feeling alone.

lyzed but his mind is as,Well;

One of the most popular
clubs at F.E. Madill Secon-
dary School is the Drama
Club. It is very successful
because of its many enthusi-
astic members. This year
there are fifty members, all
very talented.
Lois Hanna and Mary
Luanne Clare are the student
leaders. Mrs. Tiffin super-
vises and assists Miss Hanna
and Miss Clare in running
the Club.
This year's activities in-
clude the Grade Nine Night
on Friday, October 17. This
event welcomes the grade
nines to F.E. Madill. Includ-
ed in the program are games,
a supper, a dance and of
course,• entertainment from
the Drama Club.
The Christmas program
follows, presented to the
courage, and an inspiring
book to anyone who has had
to or may' have to face very
trying or difficult challenges.

production. Some of the
sellout preformances in the
past have been "Fiddler on
the Roof", "Anne of Green
Gables" and last year's
performance, "Oklahoma!"
All of these musicals have
been great successes with
many emorable acting
debuts.
All in all, the members of
the Drama Club have fun
while gaining valuable ex-
perience and knowledge of
preforming on the stage.
Many people have put forth a
great effort to make the Club
