The Thanksgiving meeting '
of the Afternoon Unit of the
U.C.W. was held at the home
of Mrs. Ida Evans October 7.
Sijxteen members answered
the roll call and 30 visitations
were recorded.
The Missions Study . was
convened by Mrs. Hazel-
wood. An article written by
Rob Witmore was read -
"Partners in the Gospel". It
has always been customary,
he said, to send missionaries
to foreign countries but
recently families and indi-
viduals have come to Canada
to teach priorities here and
bring to light the many
prejudices which we harbour,
In this way we receive
contributions from around
the world which provoke
deep soul-searching answers,
Mrs. D.Ritchie led the
Bible. Study. She explained
that this Psalm 29 describes
a very fierce storm - the voice
of the Lord. Such a storm
causes man to run- hither and
yon seeking a place of safety.
The God whom we worship
is a God of Love and Mercy
as well, she' said. At the
beginning of the Psalm we
were exhorted to give unto
the Lord. In the closing
o'clock a.m.
Mrs. Wilfred Strickler was
hostess for the October meet-
ni,g of the W.M.S. She
opened the meeting with a
brief talk on geography,
using a globe and asking

to Goderich and some shop-
ping at the mall on Monday
afternoon. •

giving the residents and staff
the change to buy new fall
outfits. A small mini fashion
show was held in the after-
noon with Grace Peck, Mary
Van Camp, Pat Thurlow,
Maude Pearson, among
those who modelled the
various clothes. Mrs. Maude
Peason won a shawl,

Members were
reminded Of the Fall Confer-
ence at Atwood on October
22. Mrs. Clare Veitch told of
her weekend at Crieff
when she attended the mini-
conference for the Synodical
of London and Hamilton.
Mrs. Veitch as leader used
the Thanksgiving program
from the Glad Tiding. "For
the beauty of the earth" was
sung and Psalm 145 was read
in unison. Mrs. Veitch said
Joy Pandall at Creiff asked
for all to pray for Dr. Kao and
his family, he is the general
secretary of the Presbyterian
Church in Taiwan. The roll
call was a Thanksgiving
verse. There were 12 ladies
present. Mrs. Stuart Peebles
of Atwood, Presbyterial visi-
tor was present and told of
our high standard of
living and passed samples of
food from her cupboard for
Wednesday was also a
busy day with the Fall bazaar
being held in the auditorium.
The room was decorated in
the Halloween theme with
little ceramic witches and
scarecrows as the center
pieces on the individual
tables.
Mr, Ruddock, Mrs. Mar-
tin, Mrs. Leybourne, Mrs.
Cunningham, Mrs. Davis
and Mrs. Lummiss attended
the Anglican service in God-
erich on Thursday afternoon.
After the service the resi-
dents were served lunch at
the back hall by the ladies.
The delicious tea buscuits
were the topic of convers-
ation on the way home in the
van.

Mr. and Mrs. Stan Bentley
and Dean spend the holiday
weekend at Lake on the
Mountain, near Picton.
Mr. and Mrs. Joel Chap-
peau of Bladwin were
Thanksgiving, visitors with '
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Minielly.
