There were, very few hard fed steers on offer. There were 1085 cattle and 1828 pigs on the market. Choice Steers: - 82.00 to 84.00 with sales to 84.25. Good Steers - 80.00 to 82.00. A steer consigned by Jim Howatt of Londesboro weighing 1220 lbs. sold for 84.25 with his lot 14 steers averaging 1037 lbs. selling for an overall price of 83.10. A steer consigned by Grant Stirling of R.R. 2, Bayfield, weighing 1300 lbs. sold for 84.00 with his lot of 10 steers averaging 1204 lbs. selling for 83.50. Relations Officers for theilrussels Legion I plan to keep interested readers informed of Legion news. Comrades Ross Bennett and Glen Bridge and wives returned from the Dominion Convention in Penticton, B.C. in -June to report that sons and daughters of veterans have been given full membership privileges. On August 31, a corn roast was held at the , Brussels conservation area for those legion members who could be contacted on short notice. A good time was had by all! The next corn roast is • planned for mid August 1981, The Lions and Legion transported 75 children for swimming lessOns in Gorrie. The downstairs part of the Legion has a new look, over the summer due to' very hard work by some dedicated comrades. The pipe band was busy also this past summer with dates at the Brussels park for cadet inspection concert in Belgrave, parades in Cambridge, Walton, Belgrave Fair, Formosa, ' Vanastra, Blyth. The band is planning to have a Ceilidh on Oct. 11th. September 14th four 1st War Veterans Cliff Dunbar, IPM opens soon The 1980 Match will be held from September 30 to October 4 at Woodstock, one mile west of highway 59 at the north edge of Woodstock. The site will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. A ladies' program begins at 10 a.m. each day.
