Concert, movie for kids
This winter offers: plenty of
fun for children at the Blyth
Centre for the. Arts.
. For the first time a series
of two programs for children
will . be offered at special
discount rates. The first
event of the series will be a
concert by ( folksinger Eric
Nagler. Eric takes children
back to the days before music
was on every radio, to when,
people had to make their own
music. •
He plays banjo, fiddle,
guitar, spoons, Jew's harp,
and various other instru-
ments. He shares musical.
energy with the audience by
involving it in singing,
clapping different rythms,
arranging a song with a
beginning and end and
giving parts to different'

The concert takes place at
Memorial Hall, Nov. 22 at 2
p.m.
The second event of the
serieswill be • Monkey
Business by the Lampoon
Puppetbeatre on. March -14,
1981. The cast includes a
talented menagerie of
puppets who entertain the
audience in a series of
sketches and stories.
They are assisted by Johan
and Alison Vandergun who
help introduce the audience
to the fascinating world of
puppet theatre.
Both these attractions are
available on a reserved seat
basis for a. series price of only
54.
A program of six Saturday
afternoon movies will also be
available at' the Centre
On Saturday, September
20, 32 members of the
Brussels Lawn Bowling. Club
held a • tournament at the
greens. Following the games
a delicious pot luck meal was

should offer attractions for
every member of the family.
Currently dilly complete
packages for the entire series
are being sold, but after
October 1 the tickets for
individual events go on sale.
The music series begins
November 12 with a per-
formance by the Brass
Company. Christmas music
from the Renaissance,
supplied by the Huggett
Family, is scheduled for

program has attracted
hundreds of children, over the
last several seasons.,
Although bookings are not
yet confirmed the following
films are tentatively
scheduled: National Velvet,
October 11; Five Weeks In A
Balloon, NUN. 8; Hans
Christian Anderson, Dec. 6;
The Glass Slipper, January
3; Abbott and Costello Meet
Captain Kidd, Feb. 7 and
Wee ,Willie Winkle with
Shirley Temple on 'March 7.
All movies are at Memorial
Hall at 2 p.m. Tickets are 75
cents. '

Lampoon Puppet Theatre on

Saturday morning children's
movies is also being planned.
Two other special events at
Blyth are the Family Brown
Country singers and
recording 'artists who will
appear October 18, and the
RCMP Show Band, set for
November 30.

CONGRATULATIONS, JACK Jack Knight
who was president of the Brussels Lions Club
last year, received the 100 per cent Club
President's Award from another past president,
Bob RichMond at a recent Lions Club meeting.
The award requires the club to meet a lot of
deadlines and Mr. Knight was congratulated in
a letter by the Internation Association of Lions
Clubs in Oakville, Illinois for his efforts. (PhOto
