Wednesday evening with
Mrs. Ron Bennett giving the
Call to Worship. Mrs., Ray
Huether was pianist. Mrs.
Bennett gave a responsive
reading with the group an-
swering, "We give you
thanks, 0 Lord." Mrs, Edna
Hackwell read the scripture
from psalm 122. Mrs. Hack-
well read the second scrip-
ture from Matthew 7: 21-29..
Mrs. Stewart Humphries
chose as the topic articles
from. Mission Magazine,
Partners in the Gospel. The
first one was "Missionaries
Today": Missionaries are
people who keep the two-way
learning process going, real
symbols of partnership in
mission and the responsibil-
ity God gives.
The second one, "Our
Response," asked How we
carry out God's mission?
Caring for the needy, telling
the story of a Vietnamese
refugee family who came to.
Canada in 1978 and the
following year in the Wind-
sor area where they now
have good jobs and hope buy
a house this year.
Business was conducted
by Mrs. A. McCall in the
absense of Mrs. A. Gulutzen. '
Ivfinutes were read by Mrs.
H. Hackwell. Fifteen ladies
answered the roll call. •Thank
you cards were read from
Joan Dennis and Margery

More work at the manse
may be done next week on
the bathroom. At a short
meeting after chruch they
decided to go ahead with
putting a new furnace in the
manse. Tickets were given
out to members to be sold for
the Reed Sellwood Singers
with an evening' of GOsPel
music at Duff's. United
Church, Sunday, October 5
at 7:30 p.m.
ANNIVERSARY LUNCH
Plans were made for 'the
lunch after the Anniversary
service on Sunday morning,
September 21. Several offer-
ed to arrange flowers on
Saturday afternoon; anyone
with flowers are asked to
bring them to the church by
Saturday noon.
Hostesses Mrs. Herb Tra-
viss; Mrs, Jack• McEwing
and Mrs. Ian Wilbee served
lunch during a social half
hour.
8th & 16th UNIT
Mrs. Don McDonald was
hostess for the unit meeting,
September 10 with 8 memb-
ers present. Mrs. Don Fraser
opened with a poem, "I must
go shopping" followed by
Mrs. Doug Fraser giving a
reading, "Prayers can't be
answered unless you pray."
The topic was presented
by Mrs. D. McDOnald on
"Give us our children "
which told about the interest-
ing and dedicated work of
Francis Arbour, in Uraguay,
Argentina and Chile.
President, Mrs. Don Fras-
er chaired the business, part --
of the meeting. Mrs. John
Davies read the June minut-
es and thank you notes from
Joan Dennis and Joyce Hart-
mann.
A bale is to be packed
following Oct. 19. The East
Huron Regional meeting
commences at 6:30 with
dessert meeting to begin at 8
o'clock at Bayfield United
Church at October 6. Co-m-
munion will be held Sunday
