MAC ENGEL 887,6645 Services were held as usual in Knox Church on Sunday morning following holidays in August. An enjoyable get-together was held Labor Day weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice. Cameron, 10th, con. when about 30 relatives and friends came. Attending were Lorne Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. tarty Wharton and family ani1;grandchildren, Mr. and. Mrs: r Rick Wharton and Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Cameron, daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe McKendra and Holly, Mr. and Mrs. Garry Cameron and Jennifer, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Cameron, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ritchie and family, all of London, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Ritchie, Exeter, and son-in-law Blaine St6enson,Varna, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Geddes and family, Seaforth, Wes McEachern, son Winston and Mrs. McEachera, ,(Galt) Cambridge. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Noble, Hanover, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Campbell, Clinton, Mrs. Tom Jorgerson, Seaforth, and Miss Mina Baker. This will be the last of these yearly picnics at this farm. Mr. and Mrs. Cameron have purchased a home in Brussels and are moving soon, Mr. Ross Pope, Kitchener, and son Murray of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. Angus Starr and Shelley, and Bill Bennet of Alliston,. visited Mr. and Mrs. Don Cotton. Mr. and' Mrs.lJack Conley Debbie Hulley was elected president fo the McKillop #1 4-H homemaking club at their first meeting this fall at Winthrop United Church Thursday. The other officers elected are Lisa Campbell, vice-pres- ident; secretaries, Tammy Driscoll and Cheryl Regele, treasurer Lori McClure and Grey Township council passed by-laws and building permits when it met in regular council session Tuesday.. Council passed a by-law under the Tile Drainage Act for $11,900, a by-law to re-establish a recreation program in Grey Township and some other drainage spent the 'holiday weekend on a trip to Manitoulin Island, Miss Susan McKone and Mr. and. Mrs. Sid Barnes, of London spent a few days with Mrs. Ida Gordon. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon. Switctrer, Beamsville, visited Mrs. MacEngel. Janice Murray, press report- er. JOE WALKER 357-3558 Mrs. Glenn Golley opened the September meeting of the Women's Missionary Society of Knox Presbyterian Church, Bluevale held on Wednesday September 3 at the home of Mrs. Harry Elliott. The meeting opened with a poem "Debt". Donations were given by Mrs. Lola Mann and Mrs. Harry Elliott giving "A Traveller's Guide To Heaven". Mrs. Elliott read a poem "Mothers" followed by prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary and adopted. Fifteen members and one visitor answered the roll call New beginners for kindergarten included, Bobby Steiss, David Strickler, Wandra Feener, Linda Lefor and Jolanda Vanass. Entering Grade 9 were 'Pam Engel to Seaforth, Stephen Smith, Jody Miller, and. Dean Bentley to Listowel. learned how to make Chinese stir fried food using a wok. The leaders also demonstrat- ed the use of the French knife, The club's next meeting will be at Debbie Hulley's home on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. The roll call will ,be to think of a name for the club. A discussion followed of the 1981 study book and of :,our Thank- offering when we will invite Belmore Presbyterian and Bluevale United churches to hear our speical speaker, Mr. Terry Trites. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Ross Gray, The offering was received with prayer by Mrs. Golley. Mrs. Golley was in charge of the topic, "Economic Rights from the Carribean". Their democracy is five minutes in a polling booth every five years. Their crucial problems are unemployment and education. Eighty per cent do not have the power to make changes. The poor people have nothing with very little chance of any change. They are very humble. We should feel very fortunate to have freedom of speech. "It is the will of God to be free." Mrs. Golley thanked Mrs. Elliott for her hospitality. The Lord's Prayer was re- peated in unison to close the meeting.
